On Jeopardy today, the final clue.
Category: 20th Century History
Clue: After the Vietnam War, Vietnam got bogged down in a campaign against this leader whom it managed to overthrow in 1979.
None of the three contestants on Jeopardy got it right, how about the hexbears?
It’s actually pathetic a teacher didn’t know that. I wouldn’t expect the other two, but damn.
The question has already been answered so here is a semi-related anecdote.
I watched The Grand Tour episode where they took boats from Cambodia to Vietnam not too long ago. It's an extremely deranged bit of television. Along the way, Clarkson stops to talk sincerely about "history". He bounces between teary-eyed valorisation of Americans during the war and passionate condemnations of Pol Pot. The juxtaposition implies the Americans were against Pol Pot and that the Vietnamese supported him, completely the opposite of reality.
So far no one itt has got it right because they didnt format their answer as a question

Pol Pot
definitely commonly known among commies, i don't know how much of the amerikkkan public knows about it but it doesn't seem difficult for a Final clue
I kind of want to go on Jeopardy at some point, but I'd probably just fuck it up.
Bet it all on FJ when, mathematically, the correct bet was 0 when I was in second. Would have won betting 0, as it turns out.
I hope to be on it some day, I’m better than most of the contestants that are on the show. I’ve never been picked to be on in yet though.
Whomst'd've amongst us is Pol Pot
Edit: 90% of what I know about him is he was CIA and got btfo by Vietnam
You had the incorrect guess as all three Jeopardy contestants, so don’t feel too bad.
