“the overwhelming number of death [sic] over 75% occurred in people who had at least 4 comorbidities, so really these are people who were unwell to begin with, and yes really encouraging news..."

Being old and overweight is already two comorbidities and both were already major comorbidities for all strains.
It is not difficult to get two more. Choose from:
not being white (seriously)
pregnant
hypertension
asthma
other lung disease
diabetes
sedentary lifestyle (seriously)
cancer
kidney disease
liver disease
heart disease
depression
These conditions are not independent. Having diabetes can lead to kidney disease, as can medications used to treat other conditions listed above, and both are associated with age and obesity. Ticking off 4+ boxes isn't difficult for the people who usually have the worst time with any COVID strain and who make up a disproportionate number with any COVID strain.
This country was already in a health crisis and now the CDC is accepting deaths from people who were already less than perfectly healthy.
Even fewer people will be taking the CDC seriously since they've gone mask-off with "get back to work during the plague you scum". This is exactly what a crumbling empire looks like, folks
Id suspect a majority of people of any age would tick at least two boxes if you got a doctor and really started digging through the tests.
This is so fucked. Can you tell me where you found the "not being white" part?
its mostly a reference to the fact that most studies are done on white people
also black people just die more from covid statistically
The CDC has played a bit fast and loose with risk factors vs. comorbidities. You can find one example here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/people-with-medical-conditions.html
Oh and the quote above is based on a study with 36 deaths and it was about risk factors, so case in point: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7101a4.htm?s_cid=mm7101a4_w#T1_down
Most Americans over 45 are overweight or obese, almost all have a sedentary lifestyle, and most of the overweight/obese at that age have hypertension, diabetes or prediabetes.
