“the overwhelming number of death [sic] over 75% occurred in people who had at least 4 comorbidities, so really these are people who were unwell to begin with, and yes really encouraging news..."
mask off moment by cdc, come on man :biden-troll:
Americana reading about co-morbidities like
:wonder-who-thats-for:
it's not far off from right-wingers digging up someone's prior misdemeanors after a cop murders them in cold blood.
i think there's a big element of perception, too. it's not hard to count up to 4 for many otherwise healthy people. i'm a healthy weight and physically active, but because i have:
-
Asthma
-
Depression
-
Hypertension
-
Raynaud syndrome (an immune disorder)
the CDC thinks it's no big deal if i die.
-
"The dirtbags outside looked from lib to chud, and from chud to lib, and from lib to chud again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."
Being old and overweight is already two comorbidities and both were already major comorbidities for all strains.
It is not difficult to get two more. Choose from:
-
not being white (seriously)
-
pregnant
-
hypertension
-
asthma
-
other lung disease
-
diabetes
-
sedentary lifestyle (seriously)
-
cancer
-
kidney disease
-
liver disease
-
heart disease
-
depression
These conditions are not independent. Having diabetes can lead to kidney disease, as can medications used to treat other conditions listed above, and both are associated with age and obesity. Ticking off 4+ boxes isn't difficult for the people who usually have the worst time with any COVID strain and who make up a disproportionate number with any COVID strain.
This country was already in a health crisis and now the CDC is accepting deaths from people who were already less than perfectly healthy.
Even fewer people will be taking the CDC seriously since they've gone mask-off with "get back to work during the plague you scum". This is exactly what a crumbling empire looks like, folks
Id suspect a majority of people of any age would tick at least two boxes if you got a doctor and really started digging through the tests.
This is so fucked. Can you tell me where you found the "not being white" part?
its mostly a reference to the fact that most studies are done on white people
also black people just die more from covid statistically
The CDC has played a bit fast and loose with risk factors vs. comorbidities. You can find one example here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/people-with-medical-conditions.html
Oh and the quote above is based on a study with 36 deaths and it was about risk factors, so case in point: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7101a4.htm?s_cid=mm7101a4_w#T1_down
Most Americans over 45 are overweight or obese, almost all have a sedentary lifestyle, and most of the overweight/obese at that age have hypertension, diabetes or prediabetes.

So when Trump said that the numbers inflated because they were counting anyone with underlying conditions who died with covid, that was bad.
But when the Biden administration says that covid mostly kills people with prior illnesses, that's good?
I don't want to hear libs justify it. It'll give me brainworms.
Reminder that mental health disorders like GAD, Bipolar, ADHD or Major Depressive Disorder and other mental health disorders are all considered comorbidities considered in this qualification.
Edit: among many other comirbidities that people cannot control.
Looking forward to the point where we just start putting covid positive people into quick slave labor roles. We don't need to pay you because you're going to die, so get in there and start making burger king hamburgers.
I mean COVID 19 positive nurses are already forced back to work...
Once the covid positive people allowed back to work start dropping, the national guard or prison labor is going to have to fill that void. We're literally going to run out of people to feed to the meat grinder instead of locking the country down.
Only the people who our job is protecting from certain death are dying, great news!
Holy fuck - the CDC is reminding me of ghouls I was arguing with around a year ago. It's 100% clear to me that Biden and the CDC will be on the same page with their new mask off POV. I'm not sure what Biden World's pet phrase will be but my money is on "new normal". CDC won't say that. They have to be all science-y and shit. But they sure as well will imply it.
I started a covid thread at another site in March, 2020. Many posters in that thread never, ever made a sentence using concepts or words greater than high school English. I don't remember exactly when but there was a creepy sea change.
Before the sea change. - they told jokes, posted anti-mask memes, made fun of my MSM articles, they ranted they didn't want to wear a mask, and they'd link to conspiracy sites supporting whatever batshit conspiracy theory was hot and en vogue.
I think it was around late 2020 or early 2021 when they started to say stuff wholly out of character for them. They started to use phrases like "Considering the morality rate..." and "Comorbidities were present so..." It freaked me the hell out.
And now that's where the fucking CDC is.
don’t remember exactly when but there was a creepy sea change.
I feel like a lot of how completely fucking insane the beginning of the pandemic has been lost to time, even among people who were there. The discourse I saw freaked me out so badly because it confirmed that I wasn't even just cynical - Americans as a whole, the people I shared my country with, are completely insane
Americans as a whole, the people I shared my country with, are completely insane
Election day approaches faster and faster.
My hunch is that in ~2 months liberals will start saying “Considering the morality rate…” and “Comorbidities were present so…” to defend Biden's "new normal" approach to the virus. In places like r/politics I'll say to them "I dunno - it doesn't seem fair to me teachers, nurses, essential workers and the like are expected to die as Biden's infantry fighting the virus. Also - why didn't Biden use the federal government to give out free masks and tests since 2020?..."
I'm - cough - dying of curiosity how they'll reply.
One guy mentioned morality rates so I called him a ghoul and then I referred to him as Mr. Morality Rate. I think he actually was stung by the comments. Not because they were brilliant on my part but I assume he lives in an ideological bubble - particularly on the net.
He said something to me like "I don't feel the need to talk to you." He left the thread for about a month. If I'm about him on right serious issues he basically only talks to people who think and talk like him. I suspect I was the first person on the net he talked to who wasn't having any of his ghoul bullshit.
I don't know where that guys lives. Maybe Belgium or a nearby country. I don't know how he'd define himself but he sure stank of fash to me. My wild guess is that ~40% of the active posters are non-American.
It's a very weird thread. The most vociferous republicans apologists in the thread are not American. Some people I know to be American popped in 2020 and they said "Too much politics" and never came back.
"I’m - cough - dying of curiosity how they’ll reply."
https://old.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/rys2lq/dick_cheney_should_be_in_jail_not_praised_as_a/ Here's a thread that'll give you a hint. Liberal after liberal defending Cheney and shitting on anyone even remotely on the left saying 'maybe we shouldn't shake a war criminals hand.'
:amerikkka:
My favorite thing is this "Well, actually..." thread...
So, who called him a hero? The article doesn't say.
There’s been a ton of media coverage of a recent Cheney trip to Washington https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/06/us/politics/cheneys-jan-6.html
Okay. But who called him a hero?
Hint: no one
Pelosi: “We were very honored by his being there. He has a right to be on the floor as a former member of the House. I was happy to welcome him back, and to congratulate him on the courage.”
Adam Schiff: “I look forward to the day when we get back to a Republican Party that’s once again a party of ideas and ideologies.”
something something moderate wing of fascism (not that these two clowns are particularly moderate but point stands lol)
edit: holy shit what an idiot: "This is actually a perfect example of why Progressives don't do well in Democratic politics - in order to win, you sometimes need alliances of convenience. Even if you don't really like each other, at this moment there is something you can do to help, so I'll take that help and run with it."
Adam Schiff: “I look forward to the day..."
The most powerful dems are naïve beyond belief and dumb as fucking rocks. For me it's kind of awe-inspiring.
Here's something one of us would use as a joke yet they're serious - their account name...
Hilldawg4president
There is no way this disease is not a bioweapon designed to kill Americans. It doesn't just attack the physical body; it attacks the American ego and psyche.
people who were unwell
well, then that makes it all fine, since most Americans are very well, widespread chronic health problems are not at all a thing
This reminds me of the bit Felix keeps mentioning on Chapo, with anti-vaxxers going "oh sure, that other guy died from Covid, but he was fat and unhealthy", seemingly being completely ignorant of the fact that they're literally the exact same guy in terms of health. Truly amazing
It reminds me a lot of those right-wing Latinos who think they're white and will thus be spared when the WN militias start abducting Non-White people from neighborhoods
