Some people see an opportunity to take a principal stand against those giant-ass corporation that exploit animals. Other think that kind of reaction is performative and overly idealistic, so they're excited that a lot of people are getting new vegan options in some of the most common restaurants in the world.

    Beyond and Impossible are both non-vegan because they’ve involved animal exploitation in the testing and manufacture. And yeh on top of that why would a vegan want to support international hyperholocaust of animals that these companies commit.

        Well you need to eat food to survive, at some point you need to get food from somewhere and vegan supermarkets are pretty hard to find/expensive. It’s about different levels of exploitation, everyone would have a different line.

    My tinfoil hat says the actual reason this is happening is that the supply chain is collapsing so sourcing meat is getting harder, so all these companies are pretending to be woke because all they can scrape together is deep fried seitan scraps.

      America produces almost all of its own meat since it has so much land for industrial slaughtering so I don’t really think the supply chain for meat is that affected I think it’s just your typical woke capitalism stuff

        Doesn't matter how much land you have when the slaughterhouses and meatpacking plants close due to COVID. Spiky supply and demand shocks make supply chain management much harder and much more expensive, and because of how industrialized food systems work (it's way more centralized than you think), these shocks have consequences that reverberate up and down the chain which make recovery harder.

    Isn't the first rule of this comm that PBC isn't allowed? Yes, it is. You can't solve animal exploitation by exploiting animals.

    KFC and McD's don't offer vegan options. They offer animal-tested plant-based options fried in meaty oil and served with a side of death.

    Animal liberation will not be won by technocratic capitalist "innovation." Speciesism is a social problem.

      Spoiler, it attracts new customers to KFC so they make even more money and can expand their murderous operations. Giving money to meat capitalists will not lead to animal liberation.

      Burger King bosses say that, since they launched the plant-based meal, meat eaters are continuing to buy beef burgers. The only difference is that now vegans and vegetarians are starting to come through the doors too. They have simply widened their customer base, not changed habits or spending choices.

      Despite more and more plant based commodities entering the market, the meat industry only continues to grow. Plant Based Commodities (PBC) don't replace the meat industry, they complement it and greenwash (veganwash) it, so it gets richer and more powerful. Giving money to the main architects and profiteers of the animal holocaust makes it worse, not better.

      Beyond and Impossible and such are for-profit businesses. Their North Star isn't animal liberation, it's profit by any means, even at the expense of animal lives.
