My heart skipped a beat before the sweet relief of seeing Harry Potter is on there
I’ve never really liked babish for some reason. Like, irrationally, something about his image is just totally off-putting to me. He’s probably an ok guy though
I’ll admit, I’ve always like the vlogbrothers though. And I could def understand someone feeling the same way about them that I feel about babish
Can babish cook anything but memefood, amerifat "cuisine" or italian? Can he make one dish without adding "cayenne pepper" for a "bit of spiciness"? I've seen like a dozen of his videos and they all feel exactly the same even though he's making that dish from that show. I remember he tried to make peking duck and baozi in a couple of videos and the result was hilarious but he apparently didn't notice.
Can he make one dish without adding “cayenne pepper”
ok lisnten here u little shit
Anyway he also does "basics" episodes which are normal non-meme food, it's decent enough.
You need a special oven to make Beijing duck. Doubtful anyone could make anything resembling the real thing. It would be like trying to make Texas BBQ brisket in a wok.
lol I kinda hate that I was also gonna reply saying this. Haven't even watched him in months. Also Hank Green's microbiology channel (https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCBbnbBWJtwsf0jLGUwX5Q3) is good because he's not being Like That as much (and also the musician/microscope operator does most of the heavy lifting)
Townsends is AAAAA content even though I can not make a single of their recipes since :im-vegan:
it can be fun to see food from film or TV cooked, which was the original gimmick from Babish. But I've never cooked anything or been inspired to cook anything from Babish, for that I go to my good friend Chef John from Food Wishes. Babish hasn't worked as a chef so he's sometimes finding things out as he goes along which is relatable. He does undoubtedly give off a bougie vibe, which is probably why he ended up there.
Also funny how his name is Andrew but everyone calls him Babish. His collab with Brad Leone was very fun (even if Bon Appetite turned out to be reactionary)
BA had some of my favorite content, loved the dynamic in the kitchen and it fucking killed me when I found out how absolutely shitty they were. I'm glad a lot of their people moved on but it just was never the same without them in the same room.
Also like you mentioned in your other comment John's inflection in food wishes just makes me wanna die but maybe it's watchable with captions lol. Kind of ironic since some of my favorite cooking content has been Matty Matheson in Just a Dash.
Matty's videos are pure art. Never laughed as much at a cooking vid as when he was stirring his sauce in his Matty's Patty's
The chicken finger sub episode is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions, a modern Shakespearean work of art
there's Life of Boris, although it's merely implied threats of babushka killing him for cooking things wrong
I don't remember subscribing, but I'm subscribed to a Helen Rennie who does traditional Russian cooking. I have zero idea if politics ever come up, it's always a chance with old Russian stuff, but it doesn't seem like the sort of channel to do it on purpose.
needs more inappropriate AAVE usage to truly capture the liberal mind.
I'd like to plug Food Wishes again in this thread, no fuss, just hearty food, like a million chicken and rice dishes. His voice is not for everyone though, he does this weird thing with his voice going up at the end of every sentence.
I stumbled across a neat Indian channel , it's just some dude silently making food that probably smells incredible
I'm lazy and like to make lots of soups and stews, a lot of indian food is a nice sort of halfway point between that and meat'n'potatoes food.
I like Adam Ragusea and Brian Langerstrom, both kind of hit that Alton Brown sweet spot, but shoutout to Grandpa's Kitchen for being possibly the most wholesome cooking channel.
This is a two year old :reddit-logo: post of a man getting his feelings a little too easily hurt online. I don't care, I like his videos.
What's your point, comrade? What percent should I diminish my opinion of this youtube guy because he reacted poorly to a comment one day? He didn't drop the n word, he didn't go on a homophobic or transphobic tyrade, he didn't suddenly reveal he's a nazi, he just got mad at something he probably shouldn't have gotten mad at. Two years later your bringing it up in a completely unconnected context to remind everyone that they should think less of him because of it. Why?
I know contrapoints sucks, but I'm pretty sure that tweet was tongue in cheek.
It's quoting some CNN lib who said it when he bombed that Syrian(?) airfield
Tbf, the Pete documentary almost seems like it was designed to make him look more soulless than he already does.
People say the right can't meme but they put out some pretty funny stuff on occasion
I don't know anything about Natalie but it's 100% ironic, anyone as online as her is completely aware of what they're saying
Is Babish problematic? I only watch his videos occasionally I don't follow him on Twitter or anything
