Did NATO not see this coming? It seems self-evident to me that the more they push on Russia, the more they align with China. If only it was the USSR instead... :ussr-cry:

It's possibly a function of our two party system. Republicans want to attack China and Democrats want to attack Russia. If they could have committed to one or the other they could have tried to keep Russia and China apart to divide and conquer, but they tried to catch both rabbits and now they're forming mecha-rabbit. Or maybe they ran the numbers on WWIII and it looked good for their portfolios, who knows

I wonder how it’s good when the whole country vaporize and the first target probably them.

They're arrogant enough to think that it would be contained to proxy wars? They have no need to march on Moscow or Beijing, just to keep selling guns to "moderate rebels" in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Syria, and Taiwan

The fact they think that China loser version could measure up to anything really overestimate their brain ability. If PRC really invaded, it would take them less time than the Taliban take over Afghan

they could be doing the Dr. Strangelove bit of "actually we'll be among the selected few who'll just survive nuclear war"

It's the delusions of grandeur that comes with American exceptionalism. They are arrogant enough to think they can project power all over the globe at all times and take on everyone. Their ideological mind prison prevents them from making a rational and actually useful analysis of the situation.

I've been watching a couple of videos by this demon. He is an American foreign policy speaker and it is quite interesting insight on how 'the other side' is thinking. i.e. why the imperialists are so intent on biting off much more than they can chew. He is also unfortunately personable

His main contention is that people like Obama, Clinton e.t.c. have not ranked their overseas priorities properly and are trying to pursue far too many interests even though the unipolar world is all but gone. He also believes that China is going to kick America's ass repeatedly (it's from 6 years ago so he was correct there) until they realise what they are dealing with and adjust their priorities

If you can stomach an hour and 15 minutes this is p good

It's pretty wild. Some sort of rapprochement with Russia is necessary if their goal is to encircle and strangle China. Russia is a nuisance to American interests, but China is an existential threat to American hegemony as we know it. Instead, the US flogged Russiagate for three years and completely poisoned relations with Russia, while imposing all sorts of counterproductive trade policies pissing off its closest allies instead of rallying them all against China. Now Putin an Xi are breaking bread at the Beijing olympics.

Can't wait for some western "leftists" to further take anti China pro imperialist stance because China sides with imperialist Russia(I think Putin is bad) while completely ignoring what their own country does, on online forums and social media.

Saber rattling in Ukraine on behalf of american fracking companies not only risks a pointless war but it angers the Europeans who still cling to the illusion of autonomy and drives Russia into the Chinese orbit at a time where any threat Russia supposedly poses to the "Western Order" is dwarfed by the Chinese one. Just another one in a long list of foreign policy blunders that will chart American demise when it's studied in the future.

I hate watched my parliaments debate on aiding Ukraine. There is literally no opposition in this country against warmongering. :assad-pogger:

Same thing in Denmark. Virtually everyone in media and politics are parroting US state department talking points. The one halfway prominent person not to do that was a Red-Green member of parliament who wrote a piece about avoiding war and diplomatic solutions and mutual compromise and all that. He was instantly villified for being on the Russian side.

People here are working themselves into a russsophobic war frenzy. But at the same time, just like it seems to be the case in US and Russia seems more interested in posturing and not very interested in actual war. Rhetorically the Danish public and the Danish state thinks Putin is the new Hitler-Stalin-Voldemort and believes that his Asiatic hordes must be stopped at all costs to preserve western civilization, but in reality the only actual contribution they have made to the Ukraine has been to send some consultants to teach the Ukrainians how to organise a home guard and how to stop Russian cyberbullying.
