As an Argentinian I think the best possible outcome for this is a sovereign Falklands republic. No joke, let the Kelpers run their own island and that's fucking it. Those who know the history of Argentina will understand that two seconds after Argentina gets the islands they would sell it to a bunch of european and north american billionaires for resource extraction, our country will never ever see any dime... like it happened with Patagonia and still happens when we allow Canadian mining companies to wreck entire communities in the north with insane pollution to fill the pockets of a few white men.
Now of course I understand that the islands are of vital importance for British and NATO imperialism, they are in the end the "entrance" to the Antartic region and there are natural resources around the islands. Giving away a strategic post in the southern atlantic is a big no-no for the western imperialists. However, I also do understand that the islanders are those who have lived in the islands for quite a few decades now, and we in 1982 brought war to their otherwise peaceful land (a war that tbh could have been much bloodier), we subjected them to a military occupation that was absolutely NOT popular among them.. we fucked around and found out, we gambled on a war and then lost, we literally lost all credibility, it's over. Since we wont claim the islands for ourselves, it's time we give up on that and normalize relations with the islanders, even if we have to pay reparations. We should resume travelling, tourism, job opportunities for people on both sides and so on, like two normal countries. That way we can end animosity between our peoples once and for all...
I've changed my mind on the subject, not long ago I was promoting Argentinian sovereignty over the islands, but then I saw that the Kelpers don't want us, we have nothing to offer to them (They rather be second class citizens of Britain rather than full citizens for a decadent country that is ours) and now I believe that this whole Falklands-Malvinas thing is kept here just for nationalistic purposes, it doesn't even have an anti-imperialist meaning, we will be the imperialists once we take over the islands and send all english-speaking Kelpers to Britain (that is, literally everyone) and resettle the whole place with white argentinians. It is hard to think this way here, the entire topic of Malvinas is tainted by nationalism, speak against it here and you're automatically a traitor.. we're being lied constantly about it, from events in the war (the "sinking" of a major UK carrier that never happened) to actual history of all countries and places involved.
I want Argentina do part ways with this insane nationalism and I want the Falklands to be free from the UK, fuck the Queen and all that good shit.
And to think the UK were somewhat "ready" to "hand over" the islands before the 1982 war.. in a Hong Kong-style deal... but the military junta was like "nope, let's invade".. they didn't even do that right, the invasion was supposed to take place in 1983 when much newer military equipment was going to arrive. Pathetic.
About China supporting Argentina.. I think this is basically saying sweet things to us so we join BRI without making much trouble, that's it.
From what I understand the Falklands are like the one place the British taking wasnt evil because no one lived there. So most people who live there now are British descendants who’ve always thought of themselves as British. The only claim Argentina has to them is that they’re nearby
There may not have been any people there but what the Brits did to the Falkland Island foxes is unforgivable.
They had no fear of humans, they were non hostile, they walked up practically begging to be domesticated and instead they were slaughtered and driven to extinction.
(I feel it probably should be Argentina’s but the Islanders should be allowed to stay, because that would be funniest yet most humane outcome)
This would be the funniest outcome, but as much as I hate to take the side of :ukkk: i think it should stay theirs. They were the first people that land belonged to, the only people who’ve ever lived there were Br*tish, and the overwhelming majority of the people living there now want to stay Br*tish. Isn’t basically the only claim Argentina has to it “It’s nearby”?
I would 100% support a “You can keep it you just can’t have military there” solution. It just seems wrong to me to force people who live on non-stolen land to either leave the place they’ve lived their whole lives or join a country that not only have they never been a part of but doesn’t even speak their language.
I’m also just a dumbass burgerlandian on the internet so literally nothing I say on this matters at all
lol but the Falklands are Br*tish people so I support the islands becoming part of Argentina. It's near Argentina, so it should belong to Argentina. And I don't support Britain's existence.
