The British Foreign Secretary told the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry about the need to withdraw Russian armed forces from the Ukrainian border. Sergei Lavrov replied that the military is on the territory of his country. Liz Truss repeated that they should be withdrawn. To this, the Russian minister again objected that the military did not violate anything, since they had the right to conduct any maneuvers on the territory of the Russian Federation.

After that, he himself addressed a question to his British colleague: “Do you recognize the sovereignty of Russia over the Rostov and Voronezh regions?”

“Great Britain will never recognize Russian sovereignty over these regions,” the Foreign Minister replied after a short pause.

British Ambassador to the Russian Federation Deborah Bonnert had to intervene in the situation, who delicately explained to Mrs. Truss that we were really talking about Russian regions.

This is also the leading candidate to replace Boris Johnson as PM. Just so you know how dire it is.

Actually think Boris would have been able to handle this better. Liz Truss is just a robotic person desperately trying to perform as Thatcher while not knowing what the fuck she is doing and with zero charisma.

I'd say Liz Truss was in the running for the dumbest Tory, but then I remembered Matt Hancock. I have no idea how they're so terrible at finding competent seeming leaders, Cameron is also a dingus but at least he was able to keep up appearances a bit.

Because politics has always been spectacle, but now it has a rotating cast of clowns!

          They're all extremely pliable.

None of these people set policy. They're all just puppets who climbed the ladder by demonstrating their enthusiastic obsequiousness.

The British are functionally irrelevant wrt global foreign policy. You could resurrect Margaret Thatcher and the best she'd be able to do with modern England is shake her fist at the Falklands.
