Literally the only reason they can even imagine saying this is that they're among the first generations out of the phase where the crushing weight of disease has fucked over humanity for millennia. Imagine saying "People dying of disease is and has always been normal to grounded people" to any of your ancestors beyond your parents or grandparents and them being like "I lost two of my sons and a daughter to disease and one of my siblings died of tuberculosis last year. I spent my childhood in a horrific state because I was quite a sickly child." Completely fucking deranged. Everybody on a subreddit to the right of r/genzedong will be sent to compulsory re-education after the revolution.

Can't re-educate if there was no education in the first place

I imagine this guy deep down thinks that he and his immediate social circle won't bear the brunt of such a thing, but that the "undeserving" will. The selfishness aside, many Americans are atomized in such a way where they simply can't comprehend the gravity of societal failures reaching them, despite feeling the effects as of right now.

I sat at a park bench for 3 hours once and didn't see anyone fatally collapse to their death. I was already kind of worried about the direction this country is going in, but this I found deeply alarming. I recommend the rest of yall fallow me on over to /r/walkaway

I think it was Matt Christman who predicted that the most likely outcome of capitalism's need for endless profit in the face of this pandemic is the normalization of mass death, and here we are.
