Any property that's not nailed to the floor is getting grabbed by streaming services. If your property has any cultural influence it will be made into low budget trash.
Hey now. Some of it will be made into high budget trash. Other parts will simply be optioned indefinitely and taken off the shelf for indie developers to use.
da zociety of zpectacle moment or whatever that french guy said
... dj2 Entertainment, which co-produced the Sonic film ...
:cringe:
Then they'll pull a publicity stunt about redesigning him after fan backlash.
it's gonna have a grumpy Kim Kitsuragi, doing the dreamworks face every other scene
and a slightly disheveled Harry, doing all kinds of whacky and zany stuntsthere are going to be occasional nods towards the four ingame ideologies, but nothing too deep or decisive
they're gonna butcher the lore and probably mess with the plot as wellKim's homosexuality will be made much more important and the station chief is now a woman
also there will be a kineema chase scene ending in a fruit cart
I get that people are worried about the adaptation compromising some of the left-adjacent ideas by directors that couldn't possibly relate to the source material, but I'm wondering how they're going to adapt a game that is 80% deranged internal machinations
I’m wondering how they’re going to adapt a game that is 80% deranged internal machinations
Trainspotting demonstrated that it can be done.
that's true but it could always go the way of Sherlock as twitter has quickly concluded.
Yeah the key here is the deranged moments need to be visual. A man climbing into the most disgusting toilet in the country and swimming around in it as an allegory for the withdrawal psychosis he's falling into and the extreme lengths he would go to or debase himself disgustingly just for another hit is the right way to go about visualising an incredibly deranged internal machination.
If the writers are as good as I think they are then they can come up with creative ways to translate what they've done in the game into the new medium. The question is really whether or not they can get a director with the talent and the creativity to match them.
There are very few directors out there that I'd trust with this.
Cuno would translate to screen 1:1 though.

Oh shit Disco Elysium but with Kaiji-level visual metaphor to represent a character's thoughts might not be so bad depending on how it's executed. Oh yeah it worked on Trainspotting too, I just remebered the toilet scene.

Brilliant scene. Disco Elysium could be full of this shit with the right writer and director. You could have Harry falling into all kinds of deranged hallucinations and popping out of them regularly.

Big Lebowski vibes right here...
In the good timeline it would be adapted by the animation team behind Mob Psycho 100
It's a little funny to me how quickly streaming services turned right back into cable TV. I'm reminded of all the low-budget TV adaptations that would come out. Some were better than others but it was more or less the same thing.
Are the shows and films they put out even worth pirating? Most of it looks so repetitive
That's been the joke for a while now. One good hour of content gets made and then you get 10,000 hours of knock-offs trying to ride the wave. The only firm I've seen that really gives a shit about piracy is Disney, and even that's perfunctory. Its not like they're worried about the One Big Movie of the Year getting snapped up and distributed by The Pirate Bay a week before the box office release. They're going to churn out a new thing every week, and you'll pay the subscription fee to keep up with it all or you won't.
There he goes again, saying "Womty-Domty-Dom Centre" as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
they're gonna make Measurehead sound reasonable, but also make him white
and Claire is depicted as unequivocally greedy and corrupt because of the size of his brainpan and Joyce is infallible and right all along
I thought we were in the clear after the culture series adaption fell through :ooooooooooooooh:
