Game Informer's review says it's "one of the best games of all time." Nice. I'm stoked for it and accept that I will get nothing done for the next couple weeks
Pre-release reviews and games media are just a different kind of advertising. Never preorder a game.
(That said, even my old curmudgeonly ass is a little hyped.)
I am falling prey to the spectacle help me.
Also this thing is the only media thing I've actually being excited for. I don't remember the last time I even glanced at a release date.
what's making you guys so excited about this game (honest question, just lazy to google)
love dark souls tbh. and souls game at their earliest are the best, servers are filled, rulesets are wonky and exploitable. lots of hype too, a lot of 10s flying around, and it's the first time fromsoft will do an open world souls game proper, something that was clearly demanded since the first dark souls. every preview was like "this is going to be open world" just to be laid out in a metroidvania fashion.
I just like things made by guys with the last name Miyazaki. That's all it is really
True, you only get pre-release access to games if developers know you're going to give a good review
I’m sure you believe everything you’re saying. But what I’m saying is that if you believed something different, you wouldn’t be sitting where you’re sitting.
:chomsky-yes-honey:
It's a combination.
As the point of the early release and embargo time is to cause more places to talk about your game at the SAME time, so it's ubiquitous.
The sites want to get the Article out fast because Clicks.
Not getting copies into the hands of media means any coverage of the game from the different sites comes as they are able/willing to do so. Also GAMERS are much less interested in a review of a game a week after it's release when it's essentially settled on day one.
As even though most sites do finish games, these super big games tend not to do much to change your opinion between hour 5 and hour 50 if you are playing at a normal pace. It's rare for games to shit the bed THAT badly in the later parts, they dip some but it's not like games go from 9/10 to a 3/10 suddenly.
Lmao, I'm in the same boat. Don't have anything to run this game right now. When I was a dope fiend I sold my Xbox and playstation. The only thing I have is a PC that can only just run Skyrim at medium settings. This game would melt that old piece of shit.
The bright side is, by the time we get the game, most bugs will have been fixed and it will be cheap a.
If the situation with DRM is the same as previous FromSoft games it should be available to torrent on day 1. Personally, I don't really care about online so I will go this route if available.
same here. I had to strike a balance between how much promo material I watched and how much I want to be surprised
Now I really wish I hadn't sold all my game consoles for heroin. Ah well, by the time i have a new console that means this game will have dropped to like 20 or 30 bucks.
All I want is for heavy armour builds to be good again. Bring back DS1 Poise!
Bro walking around bonking dudes with a stick has never not been op in dark souls
Yeah, the heavy weapons were always good, but heavy armour was never worth it past DS1.
And the shield. Once you get a good shield the game is ridiculously easy.
That’s nice. Any news on if it’s going to run alright on PC? Guess I’ll have something else to ruin my sleep schedule with soon.
I don't know if this answers your question, but I just found this quote for you: "As it turns out, Elden Ring will [be] perfectly manageable on a range of hardware, and even if you do want to up the frame rate, there are over a dozen custom graphics options to help you get there. Below, you’ll find guide to Elden Ring’s best settings, based on my performance testing so far. But be warned: Just because it can run decently on PC, doesn’t mean that this is a particularly good PC port"
fightincowboy on youtube said he ran into some fps drops on pc that seemed unrelated to hardware (cpu was like 30%, gpu like 60%) and a memory leak...i imagine that stuff will get fixed pretty quickly
This Brazilian article is the only one I've seen that's done some semi-comprehensive benchmarking: https://adrenaline.com.br/artigos/v/73745/elden-ring-mantem-tradicao-de-lancamentos-com-problemas-no-pc
It looks like the game is playable at 1080p with sub-minimum standards, as long as you have more than 12gb of RAM. It's pretty unclear to me how important your CPU is though.
EDIT: The benchmarks are before the day one patch. The biggest issues sound like some stuttering in the open world that is independent of how expensive your rig is, and hopefully something that is smoothed over in the day one patch or subsequent patches.
I'm so torn between getting this or Legends Arceus. The hype train is real
I’m super hype for Elden Ring and I’m also getting close to 100%ing Legends Arceus, it’s really really good.
Those of us with Battlefield disorder to not appreciate your gloating.
