It rules that we've ingrained Cold War culture warring into the "two-party" system

Republicans will whine about how Democrats aren't tough enough on China, Democrats will whine about how Republicans aren't tough enough on Russia

Tucker is representing all the American interests who want China to be the number one geopolitical enemy rather than Russia. Let's call this group the China Hawks. The China Hawks think that Russia can safely be ignored or maybe even brought into an alliance with NATO against China. This is what they mean when they say that Russia is not taking our jobs, or Russia is christian. With the fall of the Soviet Union, America struggles to paint Russia as an expansionist threat that wants to conquer the world. Russia is not a peer-competitor, but China could be. The Russia Hawks think that both China AND Russia need to be fought, or that Russia is still a serious threat. Various industrial, financial interests fall into one camp or the other of this divide. For ex. American energy companies want Russian gas off the market so that they can have a captive market in Europe. The China Hawks think this is short term thinking that will fuck the US in the long term in the same way that wasting decades/trillions on Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya distracted the US from ratcheting up the pressure on China. In the end the China Hawks might be able to pull Russia apart from China. It not an impossible. It's conceivable that a future US president promises Russia that Ukraine will never join NATO as long as Russia guarantees a united Ukraine and removes all troops from the territory.

That might be hard, since the border dispute between China and Russia already settle and most of Russia reserve currency is in the Yuan. The Russia and China is in bed together now.

yea, it's all up the in the air and depends a lot on who sides with who. The US is capable of fighting a Russia-China alliance if it wants to. China doesn't have to be isolated from Russia for the US to beat China. The US, crumbling as it is, still has Japan, South Korea, Australia, Europe, and even India to surround China with.
