still trying to find more info on this
There's no good reason to express support of Russia. But we all know this is going to be used against anyone who dares to contradict the NATO line.
Not believing what the west says about China is also illegal
so ukraine releasing prisoners and giving them weapons to fight the russians was actually BASED???
But we all know this is going to be used against anyone who dares to contradict the NATO line.
Exactly what will happen
fuck its true https://www.denik.cz/z_domova/souhlas-rusko-trestny-cin-20220226.html

theyre totally doing this to crack down on socialists
Public statements at demonstrations and on social media that endorse Russia's attack on Ukraine or express support for Russia's leadership can, under current circumstances, be considered a criminal offence punishable by up to three years in prison. Chief Prosecutor Igor Stříž said in a press release today.
"Freedom of expression is constitutionally enshrined in Article 17 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms. Everyone has the right to express his or her opinions in the manner he or she deems appropriate. But even freedom of expression has its limits in a democratic state governed by the rule of law," Stříž said.
fun fact igor here was a communist party member and worked in prosecution and investigation for the military. studied at a communist law school. i love the insanity of this :screm-a:
Czech Communist Party statement. Konecna sucks but she is somewhat right here:
https://www.kscm.cz/cs/aktualne/aktuality/katerina-konecna-bez-obalu-proc-si-cesi-maji-davat-pozor-co-rikaji-pisou
basic translation of her points:
First - the Communist Party of the Czech Republic, like many communist parties around the world, condemned the military solution to the conflict. Just as we have condemned what has been happening in Ukraine since 2014; just as we have condemned military attacks in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and elsewhere.
Secondly, every time I speak, I am confronted with the fact that I am not going along with the mainstream and I am not arguing for the supply of hundreds of millions of arms from the Czech Republic and billions from the EU. I am of the opinion that more arms does not equal a path to peace. Even a small child knows not to put out a fire with petrol. And that is exactly what I think supplying weapons to a place of conflict does. Unfortunately, the Communist Party is the only one promoting this. All other parties are in favour of massive armaments and adding tens of billions to the military budget.
Thirdly, I was very surprised by the statement of the Chief Prosecutor Igor Stříž that Czechs should be careful what they say and write. And I ask, why has the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office not issued similar texts in other cases? I have already named them - for example, in the attack on Libya, Syria, or, for example, in the US attack on the Iranian general two years ago.
And I completely agree with the text of the open letter by attorney Jindřich Rajchl, which reads, among other things, "As a citizen of this country, I am deeply concerned and as an attorney with more than 20 years of experience, I am completely shocked by your (Striz's) public statement, or rather threat, that law enforcement authorities are prepared to monitor and then prosecute public expressions of support or consent for the Russian Federation's attack on Ukraine by citizens of the Czech Republic. Indeed, all prosecuting authorities must by law remain completely apolitical at all times and in all circumstances and measure everyone by the same yardstick, regardless of the official policy of the currently elected government. The Supreme State Prosecutor's Office should follow this imperative even more consistently.
Fourth - the last remark is about the terrifying Russophobia that has risen. I understand the burning emotions that many people in the Czech Republic are now feeling. However, it is precisely these emotions that we should not allow to cloud our judgement, regardless of the exacerbation of the situation, and we should always act as our moral compass advises, regardless of the passions that the current tragic situation in Ukraine arouses. Some of the expressions of Russophobia in response to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in recent days are already well over the line, and some frightening parallels come to mind that should rather remain dormant in the past. Nor should the current Russian aggression lead to a rewriting of history and targeted attacks against the entire Russian nation, especially when the recipients of these attacks are Russian citizens who bear no share of the blame and have played no part in the situation.
there is some later stuff that im too lazy to translate cause of really big words but she basically mentions that there are calls to ban russian citizens from the country, even dual citizens. she mentions these points in the context that czechia has a law on the books for people denying acts of crimes against humanity and genocide but thats threatened to be used against socialists instead of the obvious target of nazis. which goes to show that even well meaning laws under a liberal democracy are used to bludgeon working class people who dont want war
yeah if someone wants to post my translation to genzedong or reddit or something they can ive pretty much discontinued all reddit use aside from browsing just say its from hexbear so we get more comrades here :P
reddit thread of it: https://www.reddit.com/r/GenZedong/comments/t3ylrk/wholesome_epic_liberalism/
Finding an app that let me browse reddit without logging in has been really great, no more time wasted on pointless arguing.
yeah konecna is a very confused person. she sometimes has some really insanely good takes and then she talks about how the EU is socialist or something insane and loses the plot
shes basically the female czech version of a hot couch socialist guy which i guess is relatable content :kitty-cri-screm:
What is the burden of evidence even tho?
Like pretty much every Marxist-Leninist party I have seen has condemned the invasion, even if they also criticize the west and Ukraine.
Freedom of expression is constitutionally enshrined ... as long as the government feels like it.
Freeze peach is as hypocritical as any other "western value".
The west grants "free speech" so long as it's not a threat to power. The bourgeoisie so thoroughly control the state that at the moment, yeah sure say whatever you want for the most part, it won't change things.
But the moment the bourgeoisie's political power starts to slip, free speech in western countries will get thrown out the window.
I'm sure western democracies will loudly condem this violation of free speech
George: They can't do that! Can they?
Jerry: Can't do what?
George: Trample free speech like that!
Jerry: Why not?
George: It's un-American!
Kramer: points at George
Jerry: but they're not American!
The sad thing is I love Czechia :deeper-sadness: It's very small and homey and I always feel so happy when I'm there. Liberals have to ruin everything
In theory that goes against the EU charter. I suspect the high court would even rule in a defendant's favor. But damned if anyone is gonna do anything about it until it actually reaches that point. :eu-cool:
Slovakia says you will get 25 years to life.
Democraties of Europe :eu-cool:
This shit is getting so dark. Love to thump my chest and talk about how europe is free and supports liberty, by rapidly passing anti free speech laws with wildly vague ideas of what constitutes a violation.
Again, just goes to show how fucking easy doing shit like this apparently is, and brings to mind all the horrific things this has not been done for.
This won't happen in Hungary because they'd have to arrest 80% of government affiliated talking heads.
