News photographers get paid by getting shots that media outlets might like to use. The shots that get used are the ones that suit the editorial line. This is a good (profitable) photo precisely because it is creepy-ass.
Horror for me is always getting lamed out like disease, imprisonment, restraint, weapons, hunger, etc. because my ass is fighting a weirdo or a freak. Punching may not work in nightmares, but BJJ still does.
