I think he must have known some of those pigs, there were reports he was getting water from them. I mean cops will still gun down an armed white guy if they hear the sound of gunshots. that's why that was suspect as fuck
Of course he did, they knew who he was. He was the nice kid they gave water too and chatted with earlier, you know how the cops love the fash, you expect them to just arrest their buddy? Think of the trauma that'd cause!
Rehabilitation in a scenario like this is only something I can imagine in a post revolution setting.

yeah I'm really conflicted with this. like I oppose prison & the carceral state but I'm also anti-fascist. I believe in rehabilitation, but again, fascist that murdered 2 people & wounded a third. I want justice for his victims & I want the piece of shit to suffer consequences for what he did but our current justice system is so fucked
The spiteful asshole in me says yes, but only because of how often 14+ black teens are tried as adults.
I don't believe this would normally be remotely true but I do believe it probably will be given how many people are acting like he is a hero.
Rehabilitation should indeed be the goal of a humane society; but he haven't begun constructing that society and examples need to be made of fascists. They need to understand that their existence is not tolerated
If the state is going to be monstrous let it do it’s work on the monsters too. Rittenhouse is not where I want the prison system to start being forgiving (though I’m sure it’s what they’ll do)

The state is a force that will kill and capture. We don't call the shots, we navigate it. We protect our friends and comrades, we oppose prison construction, we support prison strikes.
But, let's not protect fascists. If another force does our job, so be it.
Unless the US justice system completely unfucks itself overnight, the death penalty seems most appropriate.
Having said that, there are far more pressing issues to address with when it comes to the US justice system than what happens to this guy.
