    My grandfather was an old-school theory-reading M-L and when we listened to the news on his kitchen radio he'd always have good takes about world events, strongly internationalist and anti-racist.

    When he was no longer able to take care of himself he moved to a nursing home, and dementia took away his reasoning, made him distrust the non-white nursing staff, for example.

      exactly. I've heard old people who were kind of racist go to full Muslims can't be let in the country levels when their brain just stops being elastic.
