if the military did turf trump out, wouldn't that technically be a coup?
because in the unlikely event biden wins, he isn't the president until january right?
so wouldn't that be deposing the current president with military force?

The context is if the election is still "disputed" by January 20th. In that event, it is the Secret Service's job to remove the previous president, not the military's.

So if I would be Trump, I would be replacing anybody at the SS who isn't extremely loyal, right?

Who came up with the idea of calling government agencies stuff like "the secret service" anyway? It's hard to think of anything that would sound either more sinister or more juvenile. And there's nothing secret about any of them anyway. The US Secret Service even appears to have hired a publicist to write their Wikipedia article for them. It literally contains the word "synergize".

I think this is presuming him not vacating by January 2021.

In that case, I think it's the reverse. Someone retaining the position in violation of the Electoral College outcome would be breaking the law, and the President Elect, after being sworn in, would be Commander-In-Chief.

Christ it felt libby to type today. But that territory is so uncharted, calling it "technically" a coup feels wrong because there's nothing technical about something that's basically never happened before.

The military does actually have a fairly hands off relationship with the Executive. Asking them to intervene in a situation like this is about as freaky as a president refusing to leave office.

Yes, which is why this is good news, and it won't ultimately matter. When Trump loses, he's going to skate out and pretend like he was forced out and whine about it. He doesn't make money when things are in chaos, so he's going to cash in on leaning on Qanon and whatever he's gonna replace Fox News with instead.

      technically

Why is this an important factor for you? What if he "legally" cancels the election and its "technically" not a crime. Why would the spirit of the law or the letter of the law actually matter if they're hurting people?

I don't think we need to accept any of the premises involved in this article.

I don't care what Hans Vestberg thinks (the CEO of Yahoo's parent company).

      I don't care what a general thinks.

I don't care how Trump feels about it.

I don't care what it's called when a kleptocrat steals power.

I don't care what it's called when workers take it back.

I care about workers and I care the idea that a kid born today can be safer and healthier in ten years than he is today.

          It isn’t

Oh okay. Sorry, I'm trying to do this new thing where I genuinely try to only focus on and say things I find truly important. I know its not a common posting strategy so I shouldn't have assumed you really meant what you said. But saying the important and positive things I care about seems to be making my life and lives of people around me better.

Only saying things you care about is actually pretty awesome. 10/10 would recommend.

Is that really working for you though? Long term, not just a short term rush from hitting the submit button. I really think helping kinda helps. It's sorta the whole point of leftist economics and politics. Cooperation vs competition. Shitposting is competitive and Cumposting is cooperative.

Let's all cum together and actually start a movement. Maybe we can pick someone who's not elderly to lead it this time, lol.
