Lowkey I do kinda associate babies with "burden + misery" which is a big reason why I don't want any lol.

(No I'm not an anti-natalist or hate babies)

The burden sure would be a lot less if we had universal childcare but that would be communism so

Universal childcare and education two things I always push for in utopia visions. I don't have or want kids, but I still think a decent society takes care of all memebers.

I’ve honestly never meet people with kids who seem happy, my own parents included.

There's always some hidden resentment. Like maybe it's pretty small or maybe it really deep down in their pyschie but it's there.

The only people who this isn't always true for are the really religious because they think they're doing God's will have kids or whatever

children are great but only for people who are emotionally ready to have them. I like kids but I do not want any now

Sure, they are a pain. But you love them more than you'll ever love anyone else and you'll think they are the best thing that ever happened to you.

I fully respect people who choose not to have kids, I'm just saying that kids are awesome.

Yeah but that’s because you’re brain pumps happy juice into you because of it. So having a kid literally like being addicted to a drug.

Abolition [Aufhebung] of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists.

On what foundation is the present family, the bourgeois family, based? On capital, on private gain. In its completely developed form, this family exists only among the bourgeoisie. But this state of things finds its complement in the practical absence of the family among the proletarians, and in public prostitution.

that's the mechanical process of being happy though. You could say that for lots of things for example:

you're only happier if you get enough sleep and exercise regularly because your brain gives off chemicals that make you feel good wake up sheeple

Yeah but I don't really get a choice in that, my brain makes the happy chemicals when I do that cuz I need them to continue existing. Having a kid is something you can forgo that gives you happy chemicals, but also comes with a lot of drawbacks unlike sleeping and exercise, also once you start doing it you can't really stop unless you want to go to jail.

Don't worry, some conservatives want to give men the right to terminate parental responsibilities like women can terminate pregnancies.

    Problem solved!

I think there are a bunch of academics in Scandinavian countries who have advocated for a paper abortion for men to wash hands from the responsibility of child-raising (I was under the impression this was already the case in Denmark but apparently not). Sounds asinine but maybe workable in a society where there is strong childcare support (or better yet families are not the sole mode for raising kids).

In theory there's nothing wrong with that in a society where the government does all it can do to help single parents.
