I honestly don't get the dedication to the guy. If you like his content, whatever, but I struggle to think of a single current interweb celebrity I like enough that'd I'd go THIS HARD to bat for, this includes people who put way more effort and craft into their work than fucking Vaush. The dude just streams himself pontificating for hours, and you're this dedicated to him? Wtf is wrong with you?

At least other parasocial relationships are with people who make shit that's GOOD. I kind of get viewing like, a funny group of podcasters are make-believe bros after listening to 200 episodes. This is just one guy who thinks Cyprus is part of Greece babbling for hours. Worst fake friendship ever.

Seriously I kind of understand parasocial relationships if they're with people who are like, funny or smart or something. This just seems like the gamblers fallacy except instead of playing blackjack it's for spending time with an annoying pedo bore.

try criticizing nathan j robinson here and you'll likely get a little taste of the kneejerk defense of a parasocial friend

Hot take: obsessing over e-celebs is marginally better than obsessing over celebs because at least there's a slim chance the e-celeb will actually acknowledge your shitty chat spam.

Real celebs have to walk about and go shopping which means you can stalk and harass the shitty ones. Whereas e-celebs don’t have to reveal their face or location which makes it harder when they’re real motherfuckers like destiny
