They're actually still so ultra nationalist that they take great pride, to the point of actually kicking themselves in their own pocketboot, in producing nearly all of their foods and shit domestically with superior Japanese products. Like an example is that damn near all of their fucking potato chips are made out of some Japanese strain of potato that's only grown in Japan and they actually had a potato shortage crisis because of a shit harvest last year. Also all their food prices are all on the more expensive side, on their average wage earnings, since they tend to only sell domestic products.

This has little to do with Japanese fascism and more to do with how the LDP has partitioned voting districts to keep cities unimportant and hand out farming subsidies.
Also, it's hard to overstate the degree of political nihilism many Japenese (especially young people) feel. Even if they know about the unfair distribution, few people think anything can be done about it.
