Like holy shit they're already starting to ban Marx in Florida and Ukraine is arresting communists. Fuck fuck fuck what do we do fuck.

It doesn't even matter to people that Russia hasn't been communist for 30 years, they're still going to use this as an excuse to come for even the mildest of leftists eventually.

This shit reaks of the rise of Hitler just before WW2. Except this time all of Nato is going full Nazi.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Same. Their anti western shit seems almost fanatical at times, but of all the westerners, the only ones I can trust anymore are the ones who realize the “west” is evil and nothing less.

China is acting materialist smart Imho.

The Soviet Union was large in land, but not so large in population or industrial capacitors and agricultural ones would only be produced later.

China got a huge population that is educated, the means of production of the world are for a good part within it's territory and keeping the position will only increase its position. Meanwhile the other global power and local power spheres will lose some influence.

The UK goes for nationalism now that it can't control the world trade, the US can't coup as easily as it could earlier.

Sure African countries were more involved in colonialist struggles back when the Soviet Union was and are now more bound into the hegemony of what is. But there is still some imperialism going on that can be resisted and I do have high hopes for African conscious in internationalist struggles cause of their countries former positions and historical struggles.

But with time when the abilities of China are high we might see some further stages of socialist thoughts exposing itself there. Maybe even within a few decades something that Western leftists won't decry and surely something that takes internationalism more serious (currently the trade China does is already a game changer for many places - including Cuba, Vietnam, etc.).

The West might force Xi onto the path of internationalism anyway with how hard its trying to encircle and destroy any countries which are friendly to China.

That poem's been thoroughly hijacked by fascists, using the :reddit-logo: trick of "change the words and the meaning changes," usually so they can rage about how a Japanese game company editing out "vaginal bones" in a moeblob waifu video game character during a localization is communism coming to take their freedoms away.

All of my curiosity about the Fire Emblem series ended when I learned about the waifu lesbian character that can't actually be lesbian romanced and begs a straight male senpai to "cure" her with a de-gayification potion. Well, that and using a touch screen in a "morale" minigame that involves fondling the feeemale-specific characters. :kombucha-disgust:

The newer games went super anime cringe. Older ones are just good strategy games. Most take place in totally different univwrses ala final fantasy as well. Old ones are monarchistic and one does have strategically useful incest but that's about it

I wish that fanservice mandates were somehow dialed back, but that's where the big spenders are (for memorabilia in particular) and the economic pressure is to keep pandering to their insatiable cravings.

I haven't played any since Awakening but the older ones are pretty cool. Genealogy of the Holy War is a masterpiece aside from some glaring flaws and it's the incesty one but it's basically Game of Thrones so it kinda hits more medieval dynasty than anime gross

                    That's fine.

I've read critiques from historians that said that GoT was portraying a multi-corporate hierarchy more than a feudal system, but dressed it up with swords and so it was called feudal anyway. The main crux of their argument was that the fealty/loyalty system in Westeros was so one-way, broken, and dysfunctional that it wouldn't have lasted a generation in medieval Europe before being swallowed by a less dysfunctional neighboring kingdom.

This is a funny thing to argue, since that's exactly what Game of Thrones seems to portray. Robert Baratheon was able to keep the kingdom together when he was alive, but he didn't have much imagination and could only do it through brute force, so as soon as he died the infighting among who was left spiraled out of control and a claimant with a mercenary army was able to come in from an adjacent realm and conquer the whole thing only a couple of years later.

That was their argument, not mine. I wasn't interested in any more Ye Olde Smirking Quippy Murder-Rapists after seeing "you got to see this" bits during multiple attempts from friends trying to get me to watch the show, so I didn't see enough to make that argument myself.

If anyone thought that hard about a fire emblem story I'd kill them with a bazooka. You sometimes get attached to characters cause it's a strategy game where each character has a unique personality and stats but you really only wanna use like 12 so that you don't split your exp too much and also permadeath, that's the emotional motivator more than the actual story. Otherwise it's just a good strategy rpg

Conquest really resonated with me. It's a story about a group of psychologically damaged kids all coping in their own way with trying to satisfy their father's increasingly unbearable demands. Plus the levels are way more tightly designed, since the level designers knew you weren't going to be able to level grind past anything.

The other two stories in Fates did absolutely nothing for me.

I like the gameplay. And in theory, when described like this I like the broad strokes of the story. But in practice it's just told so poorly, and parts of it made me like the other routes even less. Although I haven't given the story a chance since it came out, so maybe I'd like it more now.

The later period of the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comics were super weird. Mostly due to a writer called Ken Penders who definitely was not based. He did all sorts of messed up shit like have underage characters implied to have slept together and one story had a bee die from LSD.

They had good writers from time to time too though who work on the new Sonic comics that are surprisingly good.

have underage characters implied to have slept together

If they're both a similar age and it's portrayed as part of growing up normally, I fail to see the problem. Ken was a flawed storyteller and a huge lib at times, but he didn't pedo-bait.

uhhh turns out he lost his mind after the lawsuit lmao

No, it was an adult character with an underage character.

He said it was canon in a tweet that the 20-something-year-old Skunk character (who is basically his self insert) slept with Sally Acorn. Lol eww.

He also had Sally be the only one that had to be naked while entering some magic pool she had.

Oh shit, he tweeted this stuff out in 2019 and I totally missed it

There are states here in the US where a 13-yr-old can marry someone in their 40’s, as repugnant as that reality is. Sally was 16 to Geoffrey’s 20, so I don’t see a problem given the relationship in Royal history.

Genuinely this all isn't as much as a surprise as it is a harsh check we've been served. Just holding left views makes you a target like every leftist before you. This is why mutual aid and solidarity is and has been so important. Stronger together and you cannot kill an idea, only suppress it.
