I had no idea this was still going on and thought they gave up after one day of driving around the Beltway without impacting traffic. huh.

Possibly the least effective and most aimless protest of all time. Bravo, chuds.

So many of these actions are just echoes of what came before. Occupy fed into a DSA revival and a leap up in leftist electoralism and local organizing, peaking with the anti-police protests and '18 election wave. The Tea Party fed into a wave of white nationalist organizing, Trumpism, and peaked at the Capital Riots.

But it all feels like its gone stale with the pandemic. Maybe a disease that kills over a million people and sickens god only knows how many more just puts a damper on everything. Or maybe mass media and the party insiders are just getting better at strangling down popular social movements. Or maybe everyone's just burned out, and the post-COVID economic boom has taken enough of the pressure off to calm things down.

Once nice thing about Channel 5 and QAnon Anonymous is that they do keep their fingers on the pulse in a way nobody else seems to want to do.

I thought they all went home like 2 weeks ago, they at least had more staying power than I gave them credit for.

Nah, I I meant the US truckers.

They kinda fell off the public discourse (at least in my social circles) so I just assumed that everyone quietly left with no media circus around it.

Should have known better, of course. NEVER let a good media circus go to waste.

It was already a little too late to try and ride the momentum of the Canadian truckers, but after ukraine happened they had no chance of getting attention

in this media environment, you gotta slap someone on live TV to get anyone's attention

:rat-salute: To that brave cyclist that was driving in front of them slowly at one point, getting the hogs to piss and shit themselves.

Aside from the funny report about them getting separated in normal beltway traffic, I knew the whole thing was doomed the second I ran into them driving toward DC around lunchtime a few days after the first wave. Wimps couldn’t handle rush hour here at all.

The whole mask-mandate thing hasn't been news since at least December. They're woefully late to the party and there simply isn't anything to get worked up over.

Almost an indictment of the Biden Administration that conservatives are struggling to find a reason to be mad.

They were avoiding the separate and more unhinged police jurisdiction that's specific to DC proper.

Many of the organizers are also wanted for participating in Jan 6 or some shit

Yeah, I think they realized that DC isn’t Ottawa. You aren’t going to just post up next to the Capitol Building and tailgate for three weeks while the cops ask you nicely to let traffic pass.

They accomplished all goals of the leaders of the convoy.
