    The Mujahideen, but the Taliban grew out of the Mujahideen. I see the distinction because the US directly backed the Mujahideen while the US decidedly did not back the Taliban. Their intervention was responsible for the Taliban existing, but direct support is not the same as blowback

      More accurate is to point to us supporting Bin Laden himself, less so the Taliban though we did do that after they came to power

      The wests guy Hekmatyar was an enemy of the Taliban from the start, they have very different roots(Hekmatyars Hezb-i islami came from western funding and pashtu refugees in pakistan, the Taliban came from mullahs in the south around Herat), but are both Mujaheedin.
