"I’ve literally never seen a single person actually do the recommended surgical mask + K/N95 setup. I’ve seen maaaybe 15% of people with masks with proper K/N95 and and then the remaining percentage split between almost-useless cloth masks and basic surgical masks."

AGREED. I could probably could on one hand the number of times I've seen someone wearing an N95 during any given outing I've been on, even out getting a vaccine. I've seen are wearing fabric masks and that's IT, Or the blue surgical ones, and at least half the time they're still wearing them improperly. I started wearing a respirator with p100 filters, and the looks I get are down right hostile.

As a fellow P100-wearer, we stand united in the face of boomer hostility :meow-hug:

I have family members I see every few months who are immune compromised, I don't want covid myself. I have denied myself every treat experience for two years and going on a third now. I love treats, but not as much as I love my mom. You're not alone in this bullshit. As Felix said, everyone has their own bullshit rule on what they internally decide is safe for covid ("yeah I'll eat inside at restaurants but only if my table has a window" etc etc) and as we "relax" the regulations, it'll get dumber. Sorry you're going through this

Also in Ontario - people are in denial here.

It is insane how many places have removed mask mandates -- and even worse, how many people don't wear masks.

At least the TTC and all the postsecondary I've seen have their mask mandates in place -- and people follow it.

Article link: https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.6403587 "Dr. Peter Jüni, who heads the province's COVID-19 science advisory table, said Wednesday he estimates the real number of cases provincewide to be roughly between 30,000 to 35,000 based on wastewater surveillance data."

I went out yesterday to do errands and was surprised most people were wearing masks. But yeah, I feel real gaslit right now, the pandemic is over for most people and they can't comprehend why I don't want to travel. Whatever, when cases start rising again I can just say I told yall this was gonna happen, as I have for the last 3 waves

I had to drop my gf off at the doctors in Timmins, and noticed a big drop off in masks at places like tim hortons and other fast food places, but it was probably 60% in the square mall. We both mask up, with myself using a surgical mask behind an rz particle mask. I just take precautions when i go out, because i know for sure i can't assume others will do the same.

I don't know what daily cases are like in B.C. right now because we're doing less tests too :shrug-outta-hecks: Fucking shitty neoliberal governments

In my region I had a moment like this about 6 months ago. Getting groceries as usual at a store where people be wearing masks a good 70% to %90 on typical days. Then our state relaxed pandemic safety measures, it was close to a holiday so all the PaTrIoTs were out shopping for steak and bratwurst. And I needed to get food supplies and not waste a trip in the car so just had to wade through all the dumb air around me. We've been fortunate but its still not easy. Hang in there.

Went to a somewhat bougie grocery store in a lib area today. Probably less than 50% mask wearing, wtf. Way more people wore masks at a Costco a couple weeks ago.

So tired of "we believe in science" libs that are just as lazy and authoritarian as the Republicans they despise.
