I was subbed there, and I seriously can't remember seeing anything about Ukraine at all. Pretty weird they would ban it before gzd, did not see that coming at all.
It was more educational and typically well sourced so it makes sense that it would scare libs more than GZD. If you think like a lib for a moment, fash memes are way more acceptable than like out and out nazi theory would be.
Definitely surprising though. Maybe they wanted to test the ban reception on a smaller, fringier group first?

I would posit the following.
Reddit can do whatever the fuck it wants and just ignore anyone who complains. They banned The_Dickwads and nothing happened. They're sure as hell not going to get any blowback from pissing off a bunch of scruffy leftist shitposters.
I think they do the quarantines and shit to covince themselves that they are impartial arbiters protecting the integrity of the forum. It's like a psychological defense. They don't want to admit that they're arbitrarily using their power to crush ideas they disagree with. That's what bad guys do, and they're good guys, so they wouldn't do that. Instead they have a bullshit process that insulates them from taking responsibility from their reactionary actions. As long as they're following a process and providing justifications for their actions at every step then they can crush dissent while still telling themselves that they're a bastion for free speech on the internet.
Me? I'd just fucking slam the ban button on anything I found even mildly annoying then record and post react videos where I laugh at people's feeble, powerless objections, because I understand that power is violence and hurting people who oppose your goals and aims is good.

Apparently, the reason given was that :reddit-logo: saw it as a ban evasion sub for gzd
