I’ve enjoyed hereditary, midsommer, archive 81, green room, enemy, the witch, the ritual.

Pls no ‘come and see’ or the type of horror that is really about filling you up with existential dread about the planet dying. I want slop.

EDIT: Sorry for compulsively replying to all the responses, I just have to appreciate everyone who takes the time out to post lol

OH YEAH I FORGOT ‘VIDEODROME ‘ MY FAVORITE HORROR MOVIE OF ALL TIME

possession (Żuławski), drag me to hell, suspiria (remake only), hausu, sleepaway camp, the thing, audition, texas chain saw. funny games (i've only seen the original, but i imagine haneke wouldn't pull punches, so not sure why the english version is so dismissed).

not exactly horror horror, but: cache, cape fear (Scorsese), body double, dead ringers.

you were right to like like hereditary, green room, videodrome, and the witch imo.

(salo is really nauseating (not in a fun way), but probably worth mentioning considering its politics)

It should be noted that Sleepaway Camp is horrifically transphobic, but that it can also be viewed as pro-trans. Here's a video on it, with spoilers.

yeah, this probably is a fair disclaimer.

i watched ace ventura the other day for the first time, and was just taken aback by how ugly and mean spirited it is. becomes a very hard watch. i'd like to think sleepaway camp does allow some detachment, a distance between depiction and endorsement, but the film certainly might not be read that way.

interesting you say only the remake of Suspiria.

      I think they're both great,

sure. this is probably a "take" of mine, but one i'd stand by. the remake just seems so (rightfully imo) contemptuous of the original, it completely tickles me.

Argento's certainly has some beautiful imagery at points, i'd concede.

          very interesting thoughts!

for me, they are two separate movies. IMO it's like 2 directors got the same basic idea (dance school is actually witches) and then ran in their own directions with it.

wow that’s really interesting. The original is such a masterpiece u have to marvel at any remake that treats it with irreverence. Will check out.
