    Would Puerto Rico's senators or whatever even be democrats? Like aren't they pretty catholic and conservative

      i mean, who knows what's going to happen in 2 or 5 or 10 years, but right now the Republicans are simply too racist for 66% of Latino voters and rising

      Probably not. The majority of their governors have been PPD with only a few PNP governors over the last couple decades. PPD aligns with Dems while PNP aligns with Republicans.

        The political parties are mostly formed around positions regarding the statehood/independence/status quo question though. If they were to become a state, politicians of both parties would lose their positions and have to join Dems or Republicans which is why a lot of the politicians and business folks that "support" statehood publicly are against it privately and never want it to actually happen.
