Yea. It sucks that teeth are considered a luxury bone

I'm a dumb :amerikkka: person, but is this true in other countries does UK or Russia or where ever separate dental care from "regular" healthcare?

Canada pretty famously has private dental (and vision, and pharmacies) and making it public is basically canadas equivalent movement to the US's universal healthcare movement. It's like it in the sense that it is always promised but never happens.

in straya we have universal health care but dental is still prohibitively expensive. I've needed a root canal for like a decade now (although I have no illusions the tooth-in-name-only is salvageable). My solution is not thinking about it :sus-torment:

Dental care being seen as a luxury really boils my blood. After I aged out of my mom's dental insurance, a filling in a molar feel out and I was left with half a tooth (it was a big filling) with sharp edges digging into my cheek. This happened at the beginning of them pandemic. The only option I could afford was a dental school, which was closed for several months because of said pandemic. It was very uncomfortable, but I didn't realize how bad it was until my dental work was finished. The improvement on my quality of life was immense, not being in pain and being able to eat normally. Just thinking about it makes me so mad that there are people out there suffering just because they can't afford it.

And my crown was still $500 at the dental school! I spent pretty much all my pandemic relief checks on dental care :(

I just went to the dentist for the first time in 4+ years and they basically asked me why I bothered coming in cuz my mouth is perfect :best-person:

Sonicare vibe brush, floss 4x a week, and good genetics (although everyone I'm related to has worse teeth so 🤷‍♂️)
