I'm no lawyer but I assume if the landlord faced legal issues he could say he was "just joking" about the the word European and anyone was free to move in and God Bless America Oh Canada and yada yada yada.

      [Edit: I didn't realize it's a Vancouver listing.]

They’d just pull trump move of countersuing for defamation and then exhausting the person’s legal resources.

I imagine that since it's only "prefer" there isn't technically discrimination, since non-whites are not strictly prohibited from applying and can even end up getting the lease.

If you apply as a PoC and get turned down, it would probably be very easy to sue the landleech. although this is so blatant that i'm actually wondering if they want to entice people into arson to cash in on the insurance.

Oh I absolutely think you would lose this case if it was brought to court. I mostly thought about the argument that the leech would put forward if he had a competent attorney, since I've seen some pretty unlikely cases succeed back when i worked for a small lawfirm.

the maoist uprising against the landlords was the largest and most comprehensive proletarian revolution in history, and led to almost totally-equal redistribution of land among the peasantry

That's actually an insanely good deal for the area. I have friends in Vancouver, and $2500CAD is the going rate for a 2BR apartment.

Edit: That house would probably sell for $1.5MCAD.

Lol, i have a real job now so I've been looking to get an idea of housing prices in toronto (different, but similar city). A smallish 1-2 bedroom condo that is a reasonable commute from work will need like a $3000/month mortgage. That's if I can save up like $140k for a down payment

see the trick is you gotta live on top of a mountain deep in the northern hinterlands of quebec, there you will find an accommodating shack to live in for a reasonable price

I'm paying that for a three bedroom 2 bath outside of the city. Have about 30k for a down payment, still priced out hours outside of the city. And I'm lucky. Neighbour sold their house for 800 a week ago.

That's pretty standard for the nearest big town in Michigan that I live near...

I have a friend who just got told they have to be out of their three bedroom trailer that is already $1,050/month. They're looking at renting a slightly newer, four bedroom trailer for $1550
