All the talent and production money is going into corporate rap, pedo-pop, and nostalgia drenched folk retreads (I fucking see you The Mountain Goats).

Hard to find an Aerosmith or Mastodon tier guitarist anymore. And all the vocals just sound like someone shoved a carton of cigarettes down your throat. The good ones are getting old, while the bad ones lean far too heavily on edgieness and weeb-shit to compensate.

I'm still more than happy to rock out to some Dragonforce when I'm in the mood, tho.

Scratchy/screamed vocals are only a thing in certain subgenres. Power metal (the subgenre Dragonforce mostly belong to), for instance, tends to have much cleaner vocals, though often the lyrics are equally difficult to understand because half the bands aren't native english speakers. Something like Gloryhammer is a decent modern example. As for technical skill, I'm no expert, but Galneryus strikes me as decent.

Nah. Metal isn't a genre. There are like a billion genres within metal. You're talking about black metal and maybe some power metal bands. But metal is a big tent these days with a shit ton of styles. Some really cool leftist metal bands out there too. "Hey, Stranger" by Destrage is about open borders and Protest the Hero's whole discography is full of stuff on feminism, worker's rights, etc.

Nazi power metal? What? You'd think that genre is way too camp and goofy for intensely self-serious Varg wannabe types

Three of the Dragonforce guys were in a nazi band called Demoniac a long time ago.
