I swear, these guys act exactly how people think vegans act like.
"I refrain from doing X. Therefore I am morally superior to you and I am completely allowed to treat you like dirt without any retribution from your end."
AND people don't laugh at them anymore, at least people kinda did in the late 2000s.
Ever read Ben Shapiro or Steven Crowder's abstinence columns? Those should be required reading for every single person that watches Shapiro-videos on youtube, since it is genuinely impossible to come up with a better way to make them lame again.
Conservative morality is like evil stoicism, the purpose is to annihilate all pleasure except for a sense of smug superiority.
This was the thing that CHUDs used to dupe me into joining up with them during Gamergate. "We're not racist, we just hate these self-righteous snowflakes telling us we're bad people for liking things that go against their morality. This is the same anti de-generacy stuff that Hitler used to dehumanize his opponents."
All the talent and production money is going into corporate rap, pedo-pop, and nostalgia drenched folk retreads (I fucking see you The Mountain Goats).
Hard to find an Aerosmith or Mastodon tier guitarist anymore. And all the vocals just sound like someone shoved a carton of cigarettes down your throat. The good ones are getting old, while the bad ones lean far too heavily on edgieness and weeb-shit to compensate.
I'm still more than happy to rock out to some Dragonforce when I'm in the mood, tho.
Scratchy/screamed vocals are only a thing in certain subgenres. Power metal (the subgenre Dragonforce mostly belong to), for instance, tends to have much cleaner vocals, though often the lyrics are equally difficult to understand because half the bands aren't native english speakers. Something like Gloryhammer is a decent modern example. As for technical skill, I'm no expert, but Galneryus strikes me as decent.
Nah. Metal isn't a genre. There are like a billion genres within metal. You're talking about black metal and maybe some power metal bands. But metal is a big tent these days with a shit ton of styles. Some really cool leftist metal bands out there too. "Hey, Stranger" by Destrage is about open borders and Protest the Hero's whole discography is full of stuff on feminism, worker's rights, etc.
Nazi power metal? What? You'd think that genre is way too camp and goofy for intensely self-serious Varg wannabe types
Three of the Dragonforce guys were in a nazi band called Demoniac a long time ago.
Is punk a Nazi genre too? A lot of Nazis like it and it also sounds bad.
Nazis like those too dude! Well like at least the weirdo pagan ones, half their metal music opens with like wolves howling and shit.
thats lietrally why i dont like horror but im cool this guys not and thats that
I think a lot of right-wingers use Trumpian quotes as a weird sort of emphasis.
Five more days to Hall-o-ween, Hall-o-ween, Hall-o-ween, five more days to Hall-o-ween, Siiiilver Shamrock!
This is reminding me of one of the funniest crank paleocon beliefs I’ve ever encountered, that corn is a devious trick by the satanic mesoamericans to poison the proper Christian Europeans.
I mean it may seem kind of harmless, but it’s very much rooted in the idea that indigenous Americans were satanic and needed to be destroyed by the superior Christians.
Critical support for cernvovich in his struggle against the worst type of music
Satanic Panic, but this time its former epic logic atheism free speech guys
In ten years, this guy is going to be doing the Evangelical rubber-chicken circuit, telling ailing widows about his 11th hour conversion to Pentacostalism and how their grandchildren would call more often if only they rub this magic snake oil on their skin.
Just Uncle Baby Billy with less hair.
🎵Cernovich tried to dethrone the Metal! But he failed, as he was smitten down to the ground🎵 Jack Black Guitar Solo
There was like a guy on this site with almost this exact take but for left reasons fyi.
More like “horror movies are an expression of bourgeois sadomasochistic desires birthed of decedent boredom and metal attempts to tap into myths or primitive masculinity”.
Something like that.
