it's a reconstruction. all the normal star wars tropes are there. including a main character who basically does nothing but fuck up where somebody else wouldn't have. except she sort of has an excuse. and they all have great plot reasons for not being there.

I've watched the movie 3 times (2 with rifftrax) and its just boring, our female lead is basically put in a corner for most of the movie, and then at what was supposed to be the climax she gives a rousing speech and all I could think was, ohh yeah you're the protagonist. The trailers even showed her having a more rebelious nature and being more forcefull, but no had to be cut for cinema, can't scare the audience.

The final fight scenes were good. but it doesn't make a movie when the story is mostly a mess, lots of jumping between places to tell something that ultimately isn't that interesting, wierd space samurai that dont really do anything because we have to sell starwars to china (which is fine the formula is just a bit stale at this point), the movie felt completely tacked on and entirely missable by the end.

Ooh, there's a rifftrax? I might have to get that soon.

its far from perfect, but its literally the only star wars movie I found watchable. that said I very much have a soft spot for de/re-constructions for which I will overlook a lot.
