Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)

Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Still pretty upset that Ive seen no fucking takes from any LGBTQ org about trans people in Ukraine outside of "If we dont beat the russians it will get very bad for them!".

Mainstream media somehow has acknowledged the direct threats from the Ukrainian state towards trans people better than the orgs supposedly set up for this.

Now tbf I may have just missed it if such a take came out, but still this shit should be fucking everywhere, there should be funds to get trans people out of the country, past the fucking fascist sexual assault squads they've got set up, and to fund any necessary legal defense if the state tries to punish them for it.

Edit: I've found a handful from looking explicitly but Ive never seen these advertised, and most of them are only about providing aid inside of Ukraine(which is good tbf but still capitulating to transphobic policies, and few of them discuss the transphobia as coming from the state). None of them seem to have the courage to openly state that they will break the law to get trans people out safely.

Side note I found one testimonial extremely frustrating, its from an unnamed org that talks about how right from the opening weeks of the war their headquarters was attacked twice and people beaten and robbed(perpetrators unnamed as well but if it was Russians how the fuck would they not mention that), but its still the Russian occupation that will make LGBT+ people most vulnerable. This fucking miasma of whitewashing that seems to cover all outgoing communication from Ukraine feels extremely blatant and makes it difficult to trust literally anyone who is speaking out of it.

I haven't seen much about trans people specifically in the last few weeks, but I have seen an article about Ukrainian women soldiers and veterans being treated deplorably both at the front and at home, and trans-women are always subjected to harsher harassment and violence than other women. It doesn't look good.
