Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict
Add to the above list if you can, thank you.
Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins
Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)
Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.
Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.
Yesterday's discussion post.
Video of Russian solders shooting Ukrainian civilians is trending on twitter
The media coverage is just so bizarre, I remember that court case of US soldiers doing unspeakable atrocities to Iraqi families, entirely premeditated, but well they're the good guys, so it was just a few individual psychos. But what some Russian soldiers do is of course a clear sign that the entire country must be purged.
But I guess this is whataboutism so we're gonna do nuclear war, but at least the Raytheon stock is gonna go up for a few days.
Edit: Fwiw, in neither case you can condemn an entire country based on the actions of a single-digit number of individuals. You can only judge the country by how it deals with those people. From what I heard (which is of course far from reliable) Russian superiors straight up execute soldiers who commit war crimes, while the US sweeps its soldiers crimes under the rug.
Civilians or Azov in civvy clothes? We report. You decide. More at 10.
Probably civilians. Armies kill civilians. There's no clean army in the world. In the age of universal camera phones it would be shocking if there weren't documentation of war crimes and atrocities.
