    This only punishes the russian people, who are already facing devastating hamburger shortages. Meanwhile Putin can get his hamburgers delivered from abroad, on a silver tray.

    None of them even have the slightest suspicion that McDonald's leaving is a GOOD thing for Russia, and if Putin wasn't so brain poisoned by market ideology he would have ordered the confiscation of all those properties immediately

        They passed some law along those lines, where I think they expropriate if a business closes its doors for a month, but I'm not sure of the details.

        Seriously though, every ruble that flows to McDonald's corporate is one less that Russia has, and this logic goes for just about any country. Protectionist policies to build up your own industry are one of the best things you can do if you've ruled out overthrowing capitalism.
