who also was said to be incapable of putting two sentences together: George H.W. Bush

Dumbass doesn't even have his Bushes straight. The stylistic criticism of H.W. was that he came off as weak, not that he couldn't handle public speaking.

Journalists work to gain "access" to sources that will never respect them. Sources that couldn't possibly provide any semblance of real journalism. And of course if any journalist did use their access to try and do something revealing they'd lose it immediately. A true journalist would be fine with this. Somehow get close to someone important and when given an opportunity, like have lunch with a powerful man, they would try and uncover something. But inwestern journalism the goal is not revelation but the Access itself.

probably because absolutely no-one respects journalists.

    This extremely based, actually.

I mean, it's terrible because Biden sucks and this journalist probably too, but i would love to have lunch with Xi and then get paid because i talked about the menu.

Thomas Friedman hate thread, let's fucking go.

    One of my favorites :

When I was in Cairo during the Egyptian uprising, I wanted to change hotels one day to be closer to the action and called the Marriott to see if it had any openings. The young-sounding Egyptian woman who spoke with me from the reservations department offered me a room and then asked: "Do you have a corporate rate?" I said, "I don’t know. I work for The New York Times." There was a silence on the phone for a few moments, and then she said: "Can I ask you something?" Sure. "Are we going to be O.K.? I’m worried."

Also, let's not forget NoHo Hank schooling Thomas Friedman about the rise of Asia. (Prompted, you may recall, by Hank's conflict with a Burmese crime organization.)

      Ooh, more:

A young Saudi woman wrote an email to Friedman in 2002, not a question but a statement of profound truth. It’s excerpted in Longitudes and Attitudes: “I dream of the day when I become independent and have my own car. I dream of having all my rights as a human being. Saudi women need your pen, Mr. Friedman.” https://friedmanforher.tumblr.com/FAQ

How does Joe Biden, a man tasked with leading a country that is currently seeing about two dozen major crises that affect millions of people, have time to eat lunch with the 138th most relevant political pundit in American media

I had some tuna. As for Biden, he had this girl brought in, and then he went as if to sniff her hair and just snorted so hard that it tore the hair out of her skull. She was bleeding and trying to scream, and somehow... somehow he ate her screams. After, I of course felt fear and revulsion as you would expect, but there was also an emptiness - a lack of emotion - that I had never experienced before. As if the President had also eaten some integral part of me without me noticing. I now look upon the world only as a series of mechanical interactions, and somewhere in the President's lungs may dwell whatever love I once felt for my children. Only the fear remains, but even that is dull and colorless. I am an empty shell, somehow content that the essence of Biden will fill whatever broken shards remain of my body and soul and burn away whatever is left of what I once was when next I go to sleep.
