seems like the administration is using people like buttigieg and harris to float trial balloons of potentially unpopular stuff because it accomplishes two things:

1. see how mad people will be if the admin adopts the policy/uses the excuse
2. burn possible primary challengers to the undead lich king (or just exact revenge for their opposition and attacks in the previous primary)
