Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)

Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Random Russian telegrams isn’t the same as official Russian sources. Anyone can create a telegram

Yes and I’m yet to see a single instance of official Russian sources saying anything false or deceptive since the start of this operation. The extent to which intelslava and other news aggregators stick to the official media they are quite reliable, they become less reliable in areas where they share their opinions or takes. It’s usually pretty easy to tel the difference

Millions and millions of Americans think that, too.

Yes and they don’t have the tools of dialectical materialism and Marxian lens to make sense of everything, nor do they have a hobby of learning tons about history and the functioning of society. Trust your comrades to suss out the truth from any sources, cut the condescending hand-holding of “approved sources” that reeks of Liberal credentialism and both-sidesism

Russian sources made up several weird stories about Moskva being sunk because of an accident only for it to be proven by photograph that it got hit by a rocket. Same goes for the Russians lying about not sending in conscripts.

It was the Russian MoD sources reporting the boat even sank, and US pentagon sources saying it was towed back to Sevastopol. I still don’t believe there has been conclusive evidence of missiles.

The picture shows two obvious points of external damage at the front and back. At the same time the sea is very calm. At the very least Russia lied about it being an accident on board (since two points of external damage) or that it sunk because of a storm.

I didn't believe that the Ukrainians sunk the Moskva for a long time because they falsely claimed they had sunk so many Russian ships. The Moskva itself had been reported as sunk at least once before it was actually hit by those missiles.

Wow so deep. All information is the same and it’s all propaganda and trying to make any sense of it is futile, nothing can be known. Sit back and understand the futility of social science, let the status quo reign

Believe it or not the rest of the world also has critical thinking skills, your so paternalistic with this shit

I will believe whatever I find to be credible from whatever sources I like and there’s nothing your Pearl clutching about disinfo propaganda can do about it

You feel a compulsive need to police the “approved sources” for your comrades, who you obviously are sneering down on for believing “propaganda” and Russian disinfo. You act like people can’t suss out info from various reactionary or liberal sources as if we are children you need to correct.

This only happens when people start taking non-western media more seriously that western media. Suddenly it becomes a flattening “it’s all just as bad as everything else man” which is obfuscatory and controlling, not demystifying

Some sources are better and more reliable than others. Western media and Ukrainian media and western governments are objectively more full of imperialist shit. They are not equal, and we don’t need your footnotes on everything. If you have a specific claim or a specific source you want to refute, go for it and make your case. But stop smearing all non-western media as “just as bad” vaguely

I’m sick of westerners doing both sides shit regarding Russia and the general global south. It’s everywhere and it’s chauvinism and it drips from your condescending tone

You are the one starting this all with a condescending “both sides” meme and then continued to just belittle and talk down instead of engaging with my concerns about your chauvinism at all.

Do you understand how frustrating it is for non-western anti-imperialists that the only westerners who “agree” with us about the need for the destruction of the American empire also feel the constant compulsion to “chime in” and remind us that the global south enemies are “just as evil” and we are stupid for taking a side.

How about you learn your place as westoids, your role is to destroy your empire from within. That’s it. It is never, ever to criticize the targets of your imperialist empire and align with them. To use rhetorical tricks to obfuscate the truth of the one-sided evil that must be destroyed

Critical support from Russians. From westoid you shut your mouth. You don’t treat the west and the east as equally evil or propagandistic. You deal with your assigned role of destroying your empire. Why can westoid leftists never hold adequately to a simple anti-imperialist line?
