    No, I don't think it enters their selfish heads at all. A good point of analysis is the suburb: everyone in their tiny little castle in their tiny little fiefdom of grass. They only care about the appearance of their neighbor's lawns and homes because it can appreciate or depreciate the value of their home. Hence, the Home Owner's Association circus. It's like if you took the concept of a community and atomized it completely.

    If you have that mindset and you apply the concept of "freedoms" it will be completely individualized. It's always about "my freedoms" not "our freedoms" even if they use the word "our." It's a shorthand for themselves.
