So in the game, Jayce was released before Viktor, and his lore talked about how he was a very clear-cut hero, always fighting against his eternal enemy, the dastardly Viktor. Then Viktor was released with actual compelling backstory and reasons for what he was doing (the show amped this up and made Viktor even more sympathetic), and Riot basically outright said "yeah, Jayce's lore is his in-universe PR. He kinda sucks"
