Zelensky requires more blood for the blood god! More meat for the shredder! And Ukranians are just gonna continue to go along with this because nationalism I guess. Gotta preserve muh precious territory, even if it means destroying everything and everyone I claim to love!

What the fuck is his plan?

to not piss off the right and get himself killed. he campaigned on peace through minsk II and leaving donbass alone, but as soon as he was elected he realized he was surrounded by the type of people who would never let him do that and get away with it

The hardcore nationalist formations will probably continue to fight or become terrorists, but the main bulk of the Ukrainian military probably won't continue if Kiev gives in. There's already videos of Ukrainian units refusing orders due to insufficient support from Kiev. If those are true and not staged, they point to real morale problems.

yeah that's what I meant which would essentially kick off the war again as Russia for obvious reasons is unwilling to put up with hardline militias who want to ethnically cleanse all Russians

This is true but recently its also come into question which faction of oligarchs hes (now) beholden to. Ihor Kolomoisky has been considered a patron for a while but since the war began persecution of rival oligarchs and confiscation of property has intensified, not merely known pro-Russian sympathizers but also anyone with even tenuous ties to Yanukovych, Medvedchuk, even Poroschenko. This guy ran on a populist anti-corruption platform, his election was basically a middle finger to the planners of the Maidan coup, yet he's pretty much become beholden to the same old persecutorial factional politics as has always been the case.

I heard about Kolomoisky and Zelenskyy a little while ago.. Where can I go (and where should I send people) to learn more about this "patronage"?

I've mostly just heard it mentioned around but Grubstakers has a whole episode dedicated to Kolomoisky that I thought was really informative

This, he actual ran on a peace platform and honouring the Minsk 2 peace treaty, this changed once he won, i believe the far-right threatened him to continue the conflict

here's a vid of him speaking to azov https://streamable.com/5gxzi8 you can see how much control he has over them lol(edit from https://thegrayzone.com/2022/03/04/nazis-ukrainian-war-russia/ this goes into how the nazis changed his policiy)

If he ever entertains more talks with Russia about ending the conflict there's a chance he gets couped

American Liberals are already talking about Zelesnky like he's a demigod they can will to apotheosis if we all clap for him, like RBG and Mueller. Meanwhile the Ukranians we're arming don't give a fuck about him, and will probably coup him at the first sign of weakness if the US doesn't do it first.

Would be hilarious if that's exactly his exit strategy.

Come to think about it, his peace proposal was made around the time Azov was trapped in Mariupol and now they have returned to Ukrainian side after Russia let them go. edit: I fell for western snarl word saying that the Azovites are "evacuated". They're evacuated alright, to DPR territory. In cuffs, and under security.

Wait what? Russia let them go? I thought they were holding tribunals in Mariupol.

Agreed re: Zelensky, would be hilarious if he's secretly sitting there encouraging Azov not to surrender, thinking to himself "Hurry up and finish denazifying my country, Putin, so that I can finally come out and negotiate safely."

Nope, I ate propaganda. Western news outlets refuses to say that Azov surrendered to the Russians, instead saying that they're evacuated... to DPR territory.

Oh yeah, lol that was a good line. The brave defenders finished their mission and now they've been evacuated. No, they won't be coming home any time soon...

Would be kind of entertaining to watch the libs immediately pivot from "Azov aren't Nazis" to "Azov were Nazis all along and it was St Zelensky's master plan all along to get them owned in Mariupol".

Too bad about fueling another round of the stab in the back theory, but when have libs known or cared about that¿

Stall in the hopes the Russian economy implodes and forces the Russians to admit defeat, whether be it a withdrawal or an inability to achieve their grand strategic objectives.

But clearly the sanctions button isn't working. The NATO big tent is too fossil fuel-dependent and politically unwieldy to respond to this effectively. Ironically the NATO expansion has arguably hindered its ability to respond to this crisis because it required absolute consensus to do anything but have admitted Eastern European countries that have very divergent interests from the Western European core.

Some of it is we want him to give up, but he would have maintained sovereignty better through early negotiations, he's losing territory and the longer it's under Russian control the less likely he'll ever get it back.
