I'm actually expecting this disease to result in people much more diligently following masking/social distancing guidelines because of one reason - it's disfiguring. The long-term effects suffered by those who survive COVID are largely invisible to the general public, but once people see friends and family members with scarring on their faces, they will mask up and keep doing so for a long time.
