Hi comrades and welcome to the second improvement megathread of March!

As usual, some discussion ideas:

  • Do you want to share something you've done in the previous week? Everything counts, nothing is too small.
  • What would you like to do next week?
  • Which aspect are you currently focused on improving?
  • Do you have any streaks? For example, "sober for one day." Feel free to post your streak every day in this thread.
  • If you don't have a continuous streak, did you manage to abstain from something for a day or more?
  • Did you come across some useful information or resource that might help others?

Good luck with your goals! unity

Just hauled out 3 bags of trash from my bedroom, lads. Kicking up all this dust has been terrible for my allergies though. Also found a bigass spider who managed to flee so I get to sleep well knowing that :)))

This week I went running and practiced yoga on 2 days. I'm still tracking my nutrition and trying to eat at maintenance so that I have enough energy for exercise. Next week I would like to go running on at least 2 days.

Some would consider that to be punishment, not a reward! Just kidding, I'd like to try a map game sometimes. What's the easiest map game to start with? I've never played any

I would say Crusader Kings 3, in which you play as the head of a royal dynasty, aiming to lead it to fame, power, and wealth. It plays differently from other grand strategy (map) games in the sense that it incorporates many RPG features. You control only a single character, and upon your character's death, you continue the game as your heir. The game is lost only if your bloodline ends. Strategies such as arranging strategic "political" marriages, eliminating rivals through assassination, and managing unruly vassals are integral parts of the gameplay. In the latest update, they introduced plagues that can ravage your lands and your character. There is also war and conquest (painting the map in your color). You can play a plethora of characters, from small nobles with barely any holdings to the Emperor of the Byzantine Empire. Also, if you don't want to bother with Europe, the map extends into India and Western Africa.

A hexbear favourite in the gerne is probably Victoria 3 It's set in the 19th and early 20th centuries, focusing on the management and development of a nation. You control a country, managing aspects like politics, economics, military, and diplomacy. The game emphasizes internal politics, social reforms, industrialization, and colonial expansion. You can be a socialist nation in this game. I do consider it more on the spreadsheet side of the gerne though.

My personal fav is probably still Stellaris which is a Sci-fi grandstrategy game. If you want any further information feel free to ask. Strategy games of all kinds are my fav. gerne.

Went on a bunch more dates in the last few weeks. It feels like I'm really getting over my fear. :) Still afraid of a lot of relationship-related stuff but I feel like I'm exposure therapying myself successfully. Been getting kind of burnt out and knocked off track bc of work. Was able to protect a lil more time for myself this weekend to recover.

    Some dubs:

    • I can bench 200 lbs now. My big goal is 225 lbs and from then I'll focus on fat loss

    • I found this pretty cool Youtube channel called MemeAnalysis, he isn't a lefty but I like his videos where he tries to psychologically examine memes. Some of his videos do give some good advice on how I can overcome my peter pan syndrome

    • Therapy is going better. I told my therapist that "I no longer find joy in living vicariously through cool video game characters or anime characters". Don't get me wrong, I love anime and vidya, but I recognize I want to use them as a tool to inspire me to keep on trucking and make my life one where I don't need to escape from it.

    • I've been going out more and taking better care of myself. While I don't go to bars to get laid, I have gotten some compliments as of recently on my outfit and hair.

    • I have a 600 day Duolingo streak

Things I want to work on:

    • Exploring career opportunities and grad school options
    • touching more grass, maybe pick up an offline hobby.
    • Getting a temporary shitty job that isn't substitute teaching.
    • Rebuilding and keeping relationships with my long-distance friends.

Congratulations on the Ws! For an offline hobby, I always recommend learning to play the guitar. It's fairly easy to pick up the basics. Also, it allows you to play in a band, which is one of the most fun things in the world

I've been losing sleep to go have sex and then not practicing enough because I'm tired. Gotta get my priorities straight. "We're all looking for the person who has done this!" who-did-this

We can do this! Let's limit our discretionary entertainment time so that it doesn't ruin the practice routine!

I made a bunch of new contacts at a gig last night though, so there's that.

Also, my workout routine is making my ADHD meds actually work properly, and I'm crossing shit off my to do list like crazy.

That's okay, sometimes in life you simply have to say to hell with practice and become consumed by a 70-hour JRPG masterpiece. After that experience, you will return even stronger anti-shinra-action

I got back into running. I was waiting till March since I didn't want to get sick from some cold weather. Historically, I've ran throughout the seasons, heedless of weather. But I gotta build back into that.

Hell yeah, I also want to continue running regularly from this month after a winter break. What is your running system? Are you using any apps?

At most I occasionally run Pokemon Go. I used to use a Samsung fitness watch, but I butt factory re-set it at work while doing dishes. Never got around to setting it back up. I just keep adding a little more distance. I'm aiming for 8 mile runs again. I don't think my body can handle 12-15 anymore.
