DHS also came out in support of trump when he contested the election. part of the balkanization will be that all of those overfunded, armed-to-the-teeth institutions the US has either pick sides or even become independent actors. note that the airforce also issued a memo they wouldn't enforce teen transition bans on their bases and in schools for their troops' kids. i also think this isn't due to "woke imperialism" or any other ideological reason, they just know that the hogs are completely off their rocker and that it's impossible to maintain a functional state with them in charge.
