Many years ago I got banned from an "academic" sub (yes, I know, laugh at me I deserve it) for posting a YouTube video as a source. The YouTube video was a recording of an hour long lecture given by a leading scholar in the field at a university.
When I politely asked the mod about it, they simply doubled down and said "Read the rule, no YouTube videos as sources." Then they banned me when I asked them if they even clicked on the link.
So yes, I think reddit mods are contractually obligated to be the biggest assholes ever.
No you need to transcribe the hour long lecture and post it
Yeah that's pretty dumb. What if it's e.g. an econ sub and you linked to a Youtube video of a seminar of some econ prof.
I love how he definitely is proud of his "witty memetic response" which sounds unhinged and completely cringe to any normal human being. God i hate reddit.
Probably something like "omg this guy wrote all this stuff i'm too bored to read it i'll just act like i'm in a meme and be chungus 100 keanu epic reddit moment while banning him"
Don't overestimate a reddit mod's intelligence. Once one of them told i was permabanned from their subreddiot and didn't do anything whatsoever. 🤷♀️
And then I told him I had neither the time nor crayons to explain it to him!!! Haha he was so owned I tposed on him after, epic burn 100 moment am i right fellow redditors

I am not a bot. I am a Volunteer Reddit moderator. I do not have mod powers but my reports are taken seriously and those who get on my bad side tend to get banned in under 24 hours. I have numerous rules, which you may read in my post history, but 1 is the most important rule of all
• I am an officer in training, and I expect to be treated the same way I would be with my uniform and badge.
Watch your back and get used to this face kiddo, you’ll be seeing a lot of it.

bit idea: report random reddit accounts for communist rhetoric so the site loses more users
Subreddit mod is a position that largely self-selects for the worst possible type of person. I got banned from a sub, DMed mods to ask why, they basically told me to guess why comment I made broke which rule, and when I asked if they could just tell me they muted me lol
I think the mods are literally CIA agents
Do you really think that the mods of subreddits which have 100,000+ subscribers wouldn't have the government involved somehow?
They probably know your posting history and your internet history and ban you pre-emptively based on it
just casually banning IPs that get recycled constantly by phone companies
I don't think reddit bans IPs that mobile data plans use
That would be terrible for user numbers, also I've never had a problem posting on reddit through my data plan (and I'm perma IP banned since 2019)
Have you been banned site wide? They do ip bans but you should have gotten a message about trying to get around it with another account
Yeah I've been wondering if I got shadowbanned myself because no one ever replies to my comments lol
