:theory-gary:

The snails pose a health risk to humans because they carry a parasite called rat lungworm, which can cause meningitis, Christina Chitty, a public information director at FDACS, told CNN.

    that's not good

Giant African land snails are illegal to own as pets in the United States. But some exotic pet owners still keep the invasive pests. If the owners discard them into the wild or accidentally lose them, they can quickly establish a foothold, feeding on over 500 different plant species and even consuming the paint and stucco off houses as a source of calcium.

This little beast will eat your house.

if i was a fucking complete psychotic asshole with no sense of dignity or morality, just completely a devoid soulless shell of a human being, and really just wanted to hurt as many people as possible, think about how fun it would be being a cia agent.

meeting the criteria of the former undercuts the creativity need to properly fulfill the latter

blank checks are wasted on the unimaginative

Huh. Pretty sure I've seen these guys in a bunch of Finnish pet stores.

Never heard of them carrying deadly parasites.

Sounds like it's a bad idea to own exotic pets when you live in an exotic environment where they will survive just fine when some irresponsible lazy owner dumps them in their backyard

it's not just the pet owners, hurricanes regularly bring animals over from the Carribean. There's a ton of species from there that have "invaded" Florida by just being swept there in a storm and trying to get by. this is how green iguanas or cuban anoles have established a population there. and about anything else that winds up in Florida, it's just the perfect environment for tropical reptiles, fish, amphibians, insects, or in this case molluscs. and climate change will mean that a lot of these species could move northwards soon.

Lmao, totally checks out for New Port Richey, im surprised they're doing anything about it. You'd think that there'd be some immunity for lungworm since :brainworms: are endemic to Pasco County

      They can't resist.

What are they supposed to do just see all these giant snails sliding around and not eat them?

      Not in America pal

They're cute guys, someone I know (a professional entomologist) has one but if you don't know how to keep them contained don't get one no matter how cute you think giant slime boi is.
