As someone who does actually need a truck for work, the wee one I have is so much more practical than big stupid modern trucks. It's impossible to find one in this size anymore. The bed is at knee level instead of chest level so I can actually get heavy things in it, and it gets gas mileage only slightly worse than my mother's sedan.
The modern trucks only get bigger and stupider and harder to load. Sad.
I just know it's a lot easier to unload furniture from mine than my coworkers'. Just a short knee bend and I can get underneath it.
Or when I'm hauling something very heavy like a wood stove or a riding lawn mower, the ramp is much shorter than it would need to be if I had a full size truck.
