So like, what do I even do if I want to socialize in America but don't want to talk to bigoted people?

Was hanging out at some bars/clubs with my friend a few nights ago and I mentioned how I actually knew one of the performers at a previous bar because they showed up on my Tiktok one day. The freak stranger we were talking to then proceeded to go on a tirade about we need to ban it because the Chinese communists control it

Something like this (or with Russia, or DPRK, or homeless people) literally happens to 99.99% of Americans I've talked to. Whether it takes a few hours like this guy or a few months of knowing of them. Happens with people I talk to of all races, all genders, all ages, all socioeconomic status

Sadly that's just how it feels for me lately too. It's so tiring and depressing, especially as I've gone further left over the years. Putting aside the more overt bigotry, it's gotten easier to parse through some of the more subtle stuff.

Like surely there's got to be people out there that have some empathy and compassion. It's like the best I could hope for is to talk with people that at least hide it better. Or just actively seek out more explicitly leftist people.

My professor was talking about dictators in Cuba (It's a class on cinema in Spain) and my dumbass was like "Batista" and she said no the other one and I got confused and then the very white dem soc classmate said "Fidel Castro" and I was even more confused.

      I hate it here.

Mood sometimes I look around and realize I'm the only brown muslim person in a room and it makes both giddy and sad at the same time.

Honestly, i don't think so, I just kinda phased out of the community here for a while....

There is some theory about "Strategy for a Black Agenda" around here, in the previous posts...

Was watching a Comedy Central roast from 2019 and Adam Corolla randomly goes on this unhinged rant about Social Justice Warriors. Completely took me out of it for a moment lol

I'm going to a POC Computer Dork meet-up this week. I'm pretty pumped. Hopefully I can link up with some other computer hackers and start a hobby project. I'm also kinda hoping I get a chance to learn about mentorship. I think I could be a decent mentor to a younger kat in the computer field. I have fucked up enough but survived well enough to know what NOT to do, and maybe I can pass that on to spare them some woe.

I don't know how well kept yall are with ink master lore, but there was a judge on the show who did Blackface, apparently frequently on Halloween "in the past", and was subsequently axed from the show when it came to light in 2020. They offered a better apology than I expected but still left and another judge followed. The show has new judges and they're meh now, but it got me thinking of the age old question, what to do with people like this?

As a communist, axing racist out of society is counterproductive and just pushes them into the hands of their supporters so the restorative approach should be prioritized. As a Black person, it feels weird to just brush aside Blackface as an oopsey forgivable mistake that has a restorative answer. I also think we shouldn't constantly trial people for their past, depending on the offense and accountability taken after. But Blackface is a well known offense so playing innocent will never work. I dunno, anyone have any thoughts? I know this specific case is a Black issue but the incident could happen to any POC so open to comments.
