I was thinking of joining my city's chapter, which seems fairly active. I had a negative experience with the DSA here so PSL seemed like the logical alternative

I've had good experiences but it's mostly gonna depend on your local chapter. I know I've seen some less than savory stuff about some locals, I don't remember who.

Way better than the DSA in the city nearest me.

Both will depend entirely on your local chapter, of course.

CPUSA local chapters are really cool and good, I've met the people up in NYC that write all the articles that get dunked on for being like :vote: and they tell me it's just so that we don't get investigated by the feds lol

It’s better with pumpkin puree blended in, gives it a cozy malt-like texture.

It seems to be the same story as every other org in this cursed land:

Locals are cool, nationals are fucking garbage.

i've also heard that they have a pretty long history of covering up sexual assaults within the organization.

also worth mentioning is that they've received like 40 million in donations from a tech billionaire named neville roy singham. That in and of itself isn't a bad thing, but all they've done with it is rent office space in downtown manhattan for a school and put gloria la riva on the presidential ballot across the country. Seems like a waste of recourses to me and I don't think much can be done by joining because there is a really rigid hierarchy within.

My local branch was just a kind of book club when I met with them. They knew what they were talking about, but had no real action going on. At best we'd hand out newspapers and stuff. Haven't talked with them in a few years though. Heard some kind of very serious sexual assault case from another branch, plus I don't know, everyone just seemed kind of depressed and aimless, but really concerned and they wanted some way of organizing more effectively.

They seemed ok, but this is definitely going to vary from branch to branch. Joining is a pretty intense process though. It involves taking classes and going through lots of checks. They're constantly worried about infiltration by cops and feds. Also this isn't brough up much, but they enforce dues to be a party member. You owe them one paycheck per year if you have a job.

Oh shit. Is this how they get on the ballot every year?

It must be cool to have these choices. All we have around here is an Indivisible chapter which is just a handful of old white ladies who are very upset about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and say we should call our senators to make them do something about Roe.

I’m the only communist I’m aware of for forty minutes’ driving in every direction :(

      Sorry comrade, that sucks.

Maybe there are some activities where you can find some fellow rats comrades? Like mutual aid?
