The ring is one of the flags used in the war against Britain, back when there were only 13 states (there was no unified design back then, but it was one of the most popular. Folk history attributes this particular design to a seamstress named Betsy Ross, but most historians believe that was made up).

The ring is an older design, fewer stars from back when there were fewer states
